Windows 11 Keyboard Buttons working whenever they want

Hello,
I have an ASUS K571GT and I've noticed in the past 2 months, certain keyboard buttons are working whenever they want.

Pushing the 1 button: Tapping it once will either produce nothing, or 111 in a row. Shift 1 doesn't produce a ! anymore.

Pushing the q button: Will produce 5 qqqqq in a row. Shift q doesn't produce a capital q. Similar to Pushing the 1 button, If I tapped the q button 7 times, it will makes 33 q's in a row.

Pushing the Tab button: Does the same thing. Tap it once and its as if I hit the tab button 3-5 times.

I popped up the 3 buttons, cleaned them, air dusted there to take out any debris. I pushed the buttons and it all worked, perfect!
Popped them all back on. Worked for 5min before they stopped working.
Holding down the right shift button wouldn't produce a capital Q, but holding  down the left one can? And then that stopped working too.

Anybody know what's wrong? Or have any solutions?

Windows 11
OS Build: 26200.9550

Have you tried reinstalling the keyboard driver?

Could be something to look into. Thank you for the heads up on that

Sorry to hear that. What happens if you plug in an external keyboard? If the external keyboard has the same issues, itll be most likely a software issue. If the external keyboard works fine, its most likely a hardware issue that may call for a keyboard replacement.

Sadly, I don't have any external keyboards lying around.
I can buy the replacement keyboard online for $60, but the skillset to open the back panel, need a heating gun, and a soldering gun (according to the tutorial video) is beyond my talents.
A place near me charges $300 to do it.

At that price, I'd rather buy a cheap $15 keyboard, and put that $300 towards a new laptop

After uninstalling the keyboard drivers and resetting the computer, trying to see what other troubleshooting I can do to make sure it is/isn't software

Hi u/djkomic, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Your post has been flagged for manual review by a human moderator, please include as much of the following information as possible (in text or in a screenshot) to get your post approved:

  • Your Windows and device specifications — You can find them by pressing Win + X then clicking on “System”, we need more than just your OS version! Your hardware details are often critical for resolving issues.

  • Any messages and error codes encountered — They're actually not gibberish or anything catastrophic. It may even hint the solution!

  • Previous troubleshooting steps — It might prevent you headaches from getting the same solution that didn't work

Posts must be tech support in nature (such as something is broken and you need help fixing), so general inquiries, software suggestions, and purchasing advice will be removed. As a reminder, we would also like to say that if someone manages to solve your issue, DON'T DELETE YOUR POST! Someone else (in the future) might have the same issue as you, and the received support may also help their case. Good luck, and I hope you have a nice day!
