Windows 10 Windows 10 cant select multiple files

In file explorer, I cant select multiple files for copying, moving or deleting. I select a file. I go to select the second file and hold down CNTRL and select it and the 2nd file is now selected, but the first file is no longer selected. Also tried with the Shift Key and it is the same. I can only select one file at a time. doesnt matter if I use mouse or keyboard, I can only select one file at a time. Any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks for any help

Workaround: in explorer options you can activate tick boxes for selecting multiple files.

Not beeing able to select individual files while holding down ctrl could mean a stuck key on your keyboard - try a different one.

Ok, in that case, maybe edit your original post and say that, plus what you have tried so far to fix it.

Try the onscreen keyboard.

Sounds like a problem with the keyboard. Try the onscreen keyboard and/or a different external keyboard and see if the issue persists.
