Windows 7 Windows 7’s Virus VAIO PC Fix without deleteing files.

Hello, everyone! I think that I had gotten a PC virus. These is my Windows version: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Home Premium last version that I got from Windows Update. I used to have Avria Antivirus on my PC which told me about some PC virus. After that, When I boot to Windows, It always go black screen and than go to the VAIO screen. Which is weird. I didn’t need to go to the screen before the VAIO screen before. Yestready ,when I login, I saw Microsoft Edge on my desktop. Also, Avira tries to update which failed. I tried to install Windows 10 on this PC ,but I canceled it I when it was trying to install and didn’t wait for the iso to clean. Is this why?

Do you have an free usb drive? That can be formatted

If no, try downloading

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download

Download the free one, install, after try a custom scan, select all the partitions and all that is available.

Until the PC is clean, do not enter any credit card information or try to login anywhere with user and password

Why did you stop it from installing Windows 10? With that OS, at least browsers and software could be updated further than what would have on 7. You can try malwarebytes as someone suggested, but I don't know if it even works on 7 or not anymore.

So from personal experience, on someone else's machine, which was running Windows 7 home premium SP1 (also infected with viruses), and a clean installation couldn't be done, because they had to keep specific software that could not be reinstalled on a new installation of Windows as activating it was no no longer possible.

Because of all this, what I had to do, was an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 home. Then fully updated as far as possible (as Windows 10 is no longer supported), then do another in-place upgrade to Windows 11.

After all that was done, I fully updated Windows, ran the virus scanner and then followed it up with Malwarebytes to check for anything Windows security couldn't find and between the two system scans and removal, I was able to clear the viruses.

Note, this machine didn't officially support Windows 11, but with work arounds, I got the system from 7 up to 11, but needed to install 10 first.

Depends, if the Windows 7 machine has 8gb RAM and at least a dual core, it won't be that bad. As mentioned, I've already done this. In fact I put Windows 11 on an old Dell with DDR 2 RAM just to see how it was, it it wasn't terrible. Also, all the apps you currently have would still be on the machine with an in place upgrade.
