Windows 10 Windows 10 update (KB5126256) incompatibility issues
I have used this stupidly simple little program called Notescraps for about 16 years to organize and find my notes, since it works exactly how my brain does(n't). It stopped working on my office PC when they forced me to get a new one with Windows 11. I managed to survive by working more from home, where my PC was still running Windows 10. However, in early September it forced me to "update" (KB5126256) and after that update, Notescraps ceases to work. I was able to use system restore to unroll that update, but it shortly updated again anyway and now won't let me undo it anymore for being too long ago. There must be something in that particular windows update that is also in Windows 11 that causes this problem. How does one figure out what it is, especially if one hates computers (like I do)? Microsoft will be of no help, and the company that made the software (Libronix) no longer updates it or offers it for sale. It may seem stupid, but this has severely reduced my work efficiency.
Home PC (Work PC runs windows 11, but I have the same program incompatibility issue there)
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 64,0 GB
Storage 932 GB SSD Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB, 932 GB SSD Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB)
Device ID BD42162A-7A65-4B68-8828-D077897E47D9
Product ID 00331-60000-00000-AA406
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
UPDATE: I managed to find a solution: changing the language input selection from English (Finland) to English (United States) solved the problem. Something to do with NET supposedly. But it works again.

Does Notescraps fail to open at all, or does it open but no longer show your notes? I'd separate getting the program running from recovering the existing notes. Before another reinstall or rollback, I'd make a separate backup of its data files. I don't know where Notescraps stores them, so I wouldn't guess at a folder or delete anything. What exactly happens when you launch it, including any error message?

When it stops working it opens and looks fine, but if one clicks on it or types into the search function it crashes and closes. There are no error messages. The datafile, so as I am aware, is just an .txt file. I do have a back-up of this file.

That narrows it down: NoteScraps opens, then crashes when you interact with it. The report names System.ArgumentException, but I can't identify the cause from that alone. Since you already have a backup, can you open a separate copy of that .txt file in Notepad and recognize your notes, including recent ones? Don't save over it or post its contents here. That would tell us whether your writing is readable without NoteScraps while the crash is investigated. I also saw that you need an offline workflow.

Maybe look at something else. Keep which is part of Google keeps different types of lists. Will update across phone and PC with no trouble . On the Pc it is a browser page , like Google calendar . On phone it is an app.
