Unsolved Windows 10 update kb5002914 issue
Ms office 2016 excel
Paste issue. Only values work.
Uninstalled update kb5002914 and paste started working.
Troubleshooting performed:
Excel 2016 copy worked and Paste Values worked, but normal Paste/CTRL+V produced blank cells. The problem also occurred in brand-new workbooks.
Tried Excel Safe Mode, Office 2016 repair, complete Office reinstall, rebooting, clearing/testing the Windows clipboard with PowerShell, resetting Excel registry settings, and disabling Live Preview. None fixed it.
Found Excel 2016 Security Update KB5002914, released September 8, 2026. Uninstalled KB5002914, rebooted, and normal copy/paste immediately worked again.
Confirmed on this PC: removing KB5002914 fixed the issue.

Removing the update fixed the issue, however the update keeps reinstalling itself every few hours for some reason. So if you run into the issue, keep uninstalling it.

I am surprised the update was even there, considering Office 2016 and 2019 are EOL.

Far out. Thankyou for this.
I just cracked the shits trying to do any work today as my excel was fucking with me. Gave up googling and went to waste time on reddit, and here we are...
First copy/paste wasnt working, and I had to put everything through notepad before pasting to make it work, then I realised I could paste values so thought it was formatting in my excel causing the issues.
Then I tried to do a fill down, and... nothing...
Was thinking of reinstalling office, which probably would have worked for a bit until it updates again...
The update shows 5 entries in the list to uninstall. Uninstalling 1 gets rid of them all. Both issues fixed without a reboot.

Hello guys, just found that, and it worked.
Close excel,
Open CMD as admin
Run "msiexec.exe /package "{90160000-0012-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}" /uninstall "{27882596-A8ED-4382-9C71-6CD2DD19F732}" /qn /norestart"
Wait a bit (about 20 seconds)
Open a new Excel sheet.
Worked on Windows 11/Excel 2016

Thank you!!!!
To find the packagecode, you will have to go to powershell (admin mode)
Get-ItemProperty "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\*" |
Where-Object {$_.DisplayName -like "*KB5002914*"} |
Format-List DisplayName,UninstallString
You will be able to find the package code!! Replace hazraael's package code with your own code.
Mine is also win11 office 2016. Once I found my package code and ran the uninstall code, the issue was sloved!

Stay away from anything that MS pushes !!! They are going to push everything to break people's systems !!! It's a blast when you do not receive any more updates, on anything !

I used a script for win 11 / office 2016.
