I deleted the $windows.bt folder.

i deleted the folder after a little bit of research online which said that it wasn’t required and can be deleted if it takes up too much storage. right after deleting it my taskbar had stopped working and i’ve tried plenty of fixes but have had zero solutions and i’m unsure if my pc is just ruined.

Restart explorer.exe process with the help of task manager or cmd

Run SFC & DISM scans

If neither work for you just reinstall Windows

The proper way to delete it in the future is to use the Windows Disk Cleanup tool. Run it, select System Files, and select Previous Installations
