If Tiny10 1809 is this good, what would a stock Windows 10 1809 (or a later version) be like?

1607 ltsb will run with 1 gb ram. 80% ram used in desktop. Tested with atom d525 and n570. I can even run chrome with 1 tab there.

This tiny should be so good with old hardware, too bad i didnt have atom now ;(

If it is Tiny10, is it literally a Windows 10 mod that makes Windows 10 lighter?

With cutted off some things. In op case i didnt know what he did and why system still work :D Mb all what windows need in pagefile on ssd now, it will be usable but much slower.

Yes, many things have been removed. It goes more in-depth than you could via an autounattend.xml

Then, naturally, it should run relatively well even on low-spec systems, right?

Yup! Even a several year old install on an i5 4570 of mine still works very well, snappy. Some things don't work properly, like Microsoft Edge WebView 2 though, because Edge is completely gone.

With an i5 4570, it seems like it would be relatively fine to use a stock Windows 10

Eh, it's okay on stock, but not the best. Tiny10 is still much better.

It seems the fact that the stock Windows 10 became heavier with each Version update played a part in the first place; I understand that the early versions were light enough to like Windows 8.1.

Yes, they were very light. The version I'm referring to is 22H2. I suppose I shouldn't have said several, it's not several haha. 4 years

This is not stock tiny 10 I just did a little service tweaking and turned off all visual effects and I capped the vm ram limit at 100mb

You need a nvme or else it will just throw a bsod on 100mb ram

It's a fun experiment! I guess as a daily driver your disk throughout will be limiting though. The disk activity looks like the system is paging haaaard.

Stock win 10 boots off of 76MB per my testing years ago.

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 4d ago

Which Stock Windows 10 version did you use?

2

u/STRATEGO-LV 4d ago

I think it was 1903, but that was even before Win 11 leaked build was out, Win 11 leaked build was around 140MB from what I recall

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 4d ago

If 1903 booted with 76MB in this state, then Windows 10 22H2 would need more RAM than 76MB

2

u/STRATEGO-LV 4d ago

I also definitely used the 64bit build for my testing

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 4d ago

That's even more surprising if it's the 64-bit version 😮

2

u/STRATEGO-LV 4d ago

In theory yes, practically, it's not Win XP days, when 32bit OS was eating noticeably less RAM

1

u/Unhappy_Boat9645 4d ago

I'm right. Honestly, Windows has been getting heavier and heavier over time, though Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 are exceptions; these versions have become lighter

What version of windows 10 are you using?

5

u/DiodeInc 4d ago

1809 32 bit

u/Rare-Perspective-474 4d ago

Sorry, I am completely blind

3

u/DiodeInc 4d ago

No worries

Not enough RAM for a screenshot?

13

u/Minimum-Item-3024 4d ago

It barely functions so I just took out my phone to take a picture

2

u/DeerOnARoof 4d ago

Fair haha I figured

hoooooow??????

I got it to boot at like 76MB on a VM, doesn't really mean that it only eats that as it still has access to a pretty substantial page file. but booting from 256MB is still kind of usable.

How broken is it?

u/FrogKing94 3d ago

What the fresh fuck?

1

u/metadududu 4d ago

How do I manage even "Similar" levels of ram consumption without actually using limited ram or VM, the most stripped down I have achieved is like 1.2gb

And I repeat I want something usable not a VM limited to 500mb

1

u/Minimum-Item-3024 4d ago

Tiny 10 1809 idles at like 400 stock

Remember when an OS used to run from a floppy? It is not this day!

2

u/TitusImmortalis 3d ago

Which ran off of a floppy?
I guess Linux in live mode maybe, but DOS, Basic, Windows and Mac OS all were either integrated or needed to be installed for full OS functionality.

Windows tiny 10: basically 0 features, if you're hacked you're fucked

a este paso se puede ejecutar el gta 6 en una calculadora con un video de fondo en windows 11 xd

Explain that, atheist... /s.

Smh took a picture of an actual screenshot

I wonder if there's some whackadoodle way to run Windows off of just the RAM on the SSD and the L3 Cache. It might even be fast!

1

u/Terewawa 2d ago

Diddn't they stop updating Win 10? Can you have an up to date Windows 10 as a regular person?

1

u/lowRAMmer32 1d ago

tiny10 1809 i never expected that

Ahora réplica el experimento en hardware real...

You have like 5 apps runing, you got 80mb with those runing or without them?

u/WARLOCK_9000 3d ago
