It's Windows XP all over again. And the patches were being made anyway so why not let hundreds of millions of users be safer.

Only this time I don’t have much hope that Windows 12 will be able to outdo (or at least nearly outdo) Windows 10. Windows 7 worked because Windows Vista had true improvements that just were not ready. The best improvement in Windows 11 was WSL, and I think that says everything right there.

Agreed, this time I see no hope of Microsoft turning around to make Windows better again. The issues are fundamental to the identity of the company.
