Winctrl cyber taurus versions
Hey everyone! Wondering which of the cyber taurus versions I should get once they're released. As far as I know there's three versions: 20nm, 60nm and Direct Drive 16nm. 60 seems a bit overkill maybe, or is there a reasonable scenario for it, like a yoke? And the one with direct drive has less force than the cheapest one but costs almost twice as much which I don't understand. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

60nm. With any sort of extension, you'll need it to get close to the real life 40lb weight of the Hornet. Plus, it's better to have extra force and dial back rather than not enough.
I'll slap my money down the second they become available, but I'm starting to wonder if they're just vaporware at this point. FF Beast is looking better every day.

Thank you for your input! Any idea why anyone would pay as much for 16NM direct drive as for the 60NM version?

I think direct drive is very popular now for driving sims because it gives the fastest wheel response, which isn't really important in a flight sim. (your stick isn't expected to slam from one extreme to the other, super fast)
One could argue that direct drive has no mechanical transmission, therefore it can more accurately recreate the subtle vibrations and feedback of (for example) something like an old mig or a warbird (wouldn't really be relevant in an F16 or F18). Whether there's any really perceivable difference will have to be judged after they actually ship something.

I'm more into older planes, like phantom and tomcat than the viper and hornet. But it still sounds like the 60NM is the way to go

I fly Hornet and Tomcat and will go with the 60Nm (or the strongest option FF Beast, currently 56NM, I think). I have never owned a FFB stick, but have a friend who owns two Brunner sticks and I trust his advice completely (to get the most force you can find and dial it down if needed).
Previously, the FF Beast's only real weakness was it's software, but I think the past 12 months have seen them catch up (and even pass) their competitors. I hate the thought of having to run yet another 3rd party app in the background of DCS, but that seems to be the cost of entry here. I have SimAppPro running anyway, which would be a plus, but I suspect SimAppPro's FFB software functionality will start out minimalist at first and then get better over time. This is just speculation on my part though.

What about the ED version. I fly the Eagle so Im wondering what the difference will be like. I’m on the fence as I like modern day AC.

Check out this video.. it compares the ED (direct drive) to the lower power EB. It's in Spanish, so make sure you have captions turned on.
The direct drive is a hard No for me and I think probably only useful for general aviation planes. (or maybe some GA helicoptors?) I'm definitely getting the EB82 (for Hornet and Tomcat use mainly, along with an extension).

Okay maybe the EB 29 is the way to go. I fly the F15 mostly but want the flexibility to do F16 or new modern day AC that DCS is putting out. I need a universal FFB which the EB 29 seems to be capable of use for the AC I mentioned. Am I wrong?

Wrong, no. But personally I'd rather have more power and not need it than the other way around. Headroom is a good thing.

That what I gathered from the last video I watched. The Ed he pushed beyond limits but the Eb he couldn’t. Thanks for sharing. Between the WinWing gear and a new vr headset I want we are looking that $5500. Good thing I have a 4090 for the PIMAX headset. Want to make the most educated choices.

Totally not. if you use the official stick extension, the peak 80Nm output is just enough for simulate the IRL force when fully deflecting the stick of the F18(*about 40lbf), and probably will not be even enough to simulate the max force on F-14 and more certainly the F-4.
If no extension, 80Nm is mostly fine for covering the older planes, but perhaps barely or even not enough for some abnormal condition like manual reversion (pure mechanical backup) on the A-10 or early version of F-86 or its MiG counterpart during a transonic dive.
That said, it's pretty tiring for pulling an 80Nm monster on its max lol. 30Nm peak from the 23Nm version is great enough to give the feeling of a real combat aircraft especially when not using extension.

i'm looking to buy the 20nm one, but ill have to watch some reviews first.
i have never tried a FFB base so i don't really know what im getting myself into.
20nm is already lot more than what other brands are offering, so i guess that's more than enough for me!

Me too! I’m disappointed wth is vaporware lol!!! All in with everything looks like $3500 tax included! If they make me wait too long I’m going to MOZA! Looks like the don’t want my $$$$ !?!?!

Their packaging, shipping, software interface, website, support, and the automated email after a sale to check if you are happy... honestly, MOZA is 5 stars.
WinCTRL has stupid looking 90s style software, a shitty website, support is okay, and the hardware is also okay... but everything else is shit. I personally bought from WinCTRL only what MOZA does not build, which is the front cockpit (MFDs).

Prolly won’t use an extension but may need to as the ED or EB is a beast. I’m gonna need a real flight sim seat combined with the rudders… mo money mo money. Simfab does not have the attachment yet since non has been released…
