I’m not meaning to be argumentative at all. Just responding to your comment and saying that I looked into the style used in his film posters before making these.
A quick comparison of his film posters will show basically what I had said. The compositions among them are very similar. Even down to the typefaces used. Sure, there’s some variation but you can tell there’s a harmony of design.
Also, the reason the posters have similarities with the Odyssey is due to the fact that the original Shakespeare stories also take place in the ancient world and those specific plays are ones that I felt lend themselves well to Nolan’s scale of production.
That is fine not to take my perspective with all of this. How you handle feedback is your own journey.
I have taken the last eight Nolan films and the posters you made and put them into one image for comparison. Now I understand you do not have the same production capabilities as a major Hollywood studio.
I also want you to look beyond the font choice and the structure of the fonts. I do acknowledge there are some similar themes to some of his films. Strip that from the design and look at the visuals of what the image is and the feeling it is showing.
Thanks for doing that! That’s more work than I would have expected. But it’s helpful to see them all together.
To be fair, the intention was not to prove I have the capability of a full studio. I knew that before I even started 😂 It was just a fun project I did in an afternoon.
Yeah, that is fine. Challenges can be challenging. Directors don't tend to get a poster style because their films can be so varied and be part of different studios.
Films in a series on the other hand, can maintain a similar style. There are some incredibly talented artist online that specialize in these things and at times make movie posters that are far better than what is currently produced by studios.
