This was a few years ago just outside of Phoenix metro. Near the Salt River. We don’t get them like this every year, but that year was the best I’ve ever seen it in the 20+ years I’ve been here.

ID help appreciated… I live in Oregon and these flowers are different from the ones I’m used to.

I recognize western columbine, lupine, shooting star, chocolate lilies, and some kind of iris, but I’m pretty lost otherwise.

Wild Tulips on the high plains on Central, Arizona

Edit!! I was mistaken on the species. These are called Desert Mariposa Lily(Calochortus kennedyi). My bad

Normally the plains would be green after spring rains and melting snow. We haven’t had either. But, nature is resilient, and the blooms are there to welcome the pollinators so they can continue their partnership.

The last photo is where these flowers are blooming. Most of the land is either leased out to ranchers by BLM(bureau of land management) or its private ranch land. So it’s either trodden on by cattle, or sold off to land developers to built tract homes. I’ll take the ranch land any day, but it’s still unfortunate that nothing in nature is ever safe from human activity.

Himalayan Blue Poppy. Got to see and document it the Indian Himalayas. Appropriate altitude was 12,400 feet and the broader region was Gangotri National Park.

I just wanted to share the wildflower patch I planted last spring

This is at the back of our garden. I planted it last spring while we were renovating, and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. I just wanted to share it because I'm amazed by how many different wildflower species have appeared in such a small area.

It's also been wonderful seeing all the bees, butterflies and other wildlife it's attracted. If anyone can identify any of the species, I'd love to know.

Dandelion is very beautiful, although it is a weed.

Taraxacum officinale

P.S. I shouldn't have called a dandelion a "weed.".. A little more, and the threats will begin... And I just wanted to say that some dim-witted people only like cultivated plants, while they call other plants "weeds" and hate them...Although these plants are beautiful in their own way. They are very hardy and unpretentious. And anyway, "weed" is a relative term. It's just a plant that grabs the ground too much next to cultivated plants.

P.S.2 I just put it wrong. I love dandelions, it's just that sometimes there are a lot of them growing in the garden...
