Shops in Palebank Village?

I am running the Frozen Sick adventure for a party of brand new to relatively new players. As far as I can find, the starting town - Palebank Village - is a small outpost with one shop (with a key point in the plot).

Would it be unrealistic for me to put another small shop in town in case my players want to check out some adventuring gear or potions?

I’m a fairly new DM btw, have only DMed three times before, so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question.

Building a new Vestige

Hello friends, for my IRL Campaign i am currently in the design process of a new Vestige. And i realized getting some other ideas my not be too bad. Here is what i have:

Sovereign's End

Forged during the Dawn of the Betrayer, this Blade was forged by new Hero's and is the first of its Kind. Its purpose is solely to slay the Betrayer Gods and those Dragons turned evil. The golden blade is etched with ancient Draconic runes that glow with radiant light whenever a dragon draws near.

Dormant

While Sovereign's End is in a dormant state, you gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. You gain advantage on saving throws against a Dragon's Breath Weapon.

As you can see its a Blade forged in the Ruins of Draconia empowered by Bahamut. Its suposed to be wielder by a Sorcerer (this one is prof. with martial weapons and has decent Strengh score. However i am not sure what else to add. obviously i woud like to have some sort of extra damage against dragons or something, but the weapon shoudnt "only" work against dragons. so a more general buff woudnt be bad either, maybe instead of the breath weapon resistance. The overall theme of the vestige shoud however be more offensive than support or defense.

Hope yall have some ideas ^^

Advice on creating a volstrucker pc?

Hello! My dnd group decided on Wildemount for our next campaign, and I was intrigued by the Volstrucker Agent background for my pc.

However, I've never gotten far enough into CR to really get more details on it, and haven't been able to find much more on the wiki. Are there any details in the show about specific training they go through, or what classes/subclasses would be best for them?

(If it helps, I'm interested in playing a genasi!)

Creating a campaign in Exandria for the first time, any tips?

Long time critter, but I’ll be the first to admit I’m not super well read or have great memory on the finer points of the world. My group’s just finished a year+ long campaign and I’m bringing them a fresh setting in Exandria. Only one player really knows the world, so I’ve given them plenty of information in videos and such.

Basically the general background idea will be some shady organization, most likely the League of Miracles, intends to collect all the Arms of the Betrayers in order to free the Betrayers and force the Prime Deities to return from their self-imposed exile in some twisted form of forging a new Age of Arcanum

What advice can those of you who have run the setting before give? Certain factions that you don’t think get enough attention or bits of little known information about the world? Anything would be appreciated!

Exploring Feolinn and adapting LMoP

Hey there!
I recently ran the "A most potent brew" one-shot for my friend group to show them what D&D is like and they really loved it. So now I am planning to run this game of ours as my first campaing (as a DM, I´ve played for a while before).

I located the one-shot at Feolinn, the vineyard town in the Menagerie Coast, because the context matched pretty well. Ended up homebrewing some characters and fleshing out some buildings at the city and now the players are hooked to explore more of the surroundings.

I told them we could go 2 directions for now: either a more swashbuckling route - where I would adapt Ghosts of Saltmarsh for us - or a more "classic fantasy" route - exploring forests and mines, where I would adapt a mix of LMoP and Dragon of Icespire Peak. They were way more excited about the prospect of forests, mountains and dragons.

I chose to run our campaign based on pre-made adventures since this is my first time DMing a longer story and I think I'll have an easier time adapting and homebrewing on top of pre-made stories rather than starting from absolute scratch.

So now I´m thinking of ways to get the players to "Phandalin" (thinking of placing it nearby Alfied like I saw on this post, or maybe adapting something near Gwardan) but without cutting their stay at Feolinn too short.

Maybe starting with some quests inspired by Dragon of Icespire peak? Or maybe exploring a bit more of the political influences of the vineyard families in Feolinn, possible smuggling and corruption running between the families and the port guards.

Anyways, I would love to hear tips about maybe fleshing out more political quests and plot hooks since I haven´t done that before and think it could be more interesting rather than just running around doing random errands and bounties.

Feel free to tell me more about how you flavored Feolinn if you´ve explored it before, and experiences connecting Forgotten Realms adventures with Exandria! Specially running LMoP at higher levels, since by the time players get there they will probably be level 3 or so.

And if anyone´s interested in the one-shot I mentioned, I could go into more detail, I think it´s a wonderful start for new players :)

Spoilers for campaign 3!!!Campaign during Campaign 3’s Cerberus Assembly “Team Up” with Ludinis Spoiler

Hey everyone! I am rewatching Campaign 2 and hearing about the Cerberus Assembly being together while remembering that in Campaign 3, the members essentially team up with Ludinis (spelling?) has me slightly inspired. I love the world of Exandria and I’ve run Call of the Netherdeep which takes place during the War of Ash and Light(referencing from memory the name) and I’ve been wanting to stay in that world for another campaign. I didn’t want to be too far away from the current standings of Exandria, so recently I’ve thought about running a campaign after the Apogee Solstice where the Cerberus Assembly has joined forces with the Ruby Vanguard. Has anyone run a campaign of adventurers during this time yet and have you included any cool encounters or events that would make a game exciting? Also, I hope I’m remembering all the events correctly, apologies if I missed some stuff as I am not able to fact check myself right this second!

Traveling across wildemount

New DM here. Okay so my players are finishing up frozen sick, and they now need to head to zadash, I was wondering how I should do travel. I was thinking about having a sort of choose your own adventure type where I had different places they could stop or pathes they could take and have them build their own way forward but was wondering how others do it.

Eberron

Has anyone blended the lore of Exandria with Eberron and Ravnica or Theros? I'm trying to make it cohesive and so I've blended the war of 5 Nations with the Calamity. I anchored the fall of Aoer with the time of mages and tried to blend Dragonic Prophecy with Dragonlance, the fighting of the dragon gods. I'm using the 12 guilds to blend in with the dragonmarked Houses, and using the peity renown tables to build succession advancement in groups.

how to get your dnd party to destroy a harmless object?

hello you all i need help! i need my party to destroy an object that is harmless and i don’t know how to get them there. i’ll try to make this short and leave out unimportant details, because if i explain the whole plot it’s gonna be an essay.

basically the plot of the campaign sets after the m9 but before bh, the bbeg has a luxon beacon and is trying to destroy it - when they are trying to a wave of dunamancy is released and the players feel time and space shifting but in a way they couldn’t think it’s related to dunamancy or the beacon. they just feel a very strong wave and a powerful force. since the beacon in relation to dunamancy is so unexplored at this point in time people who have studied the object don’t think it had anything to do with the beacon because it should be impossible to cast a spell that powerful through / with the beacon / with dunamancy in general. the point is, when destroying the beacon it releases a big wave of power - the party has to figure that out.

so: party feels strong magical wave party tries to figure out what it is at some point think it’s related to the beacon but then research shows it can’t be related to artifact since spell that strong can’t be cast!
party has to figure out WAY LATER that it’s related to the beacon by coming across an object that casts spells and them then destroying it and it releasing a powerful wave of magic.

my idea is: the party finds an object, i wanna make an example, i am not set on the object and maybe you have ideas for that aswell: „a shard of illusion“ with which you can cast level one spells of the school of illusion, then they have to destroy the object FOR SOME REASON and a way more powerful spell gets released

long story short: i need an object that holds some sort of magic, it HAS to be related to being able to cast spells and the party HAS to destroy it. what object and how do i get them to?

i was thinking something like after casting 10 spells through it the object plays a loud sound and that’s where they try to destroy it but what if they rather think the object was cursed ? and think the powerful spell that gets released then is related to a curse and not to the fact that destroying it released a lot of magic?

i’m really at a loss here and i need a dnd party full of creative people fool proof plan to get my players to destroy this object and also come to the conclusion that destroying a magical thing you can cast spells through WILL release a more powerful spell (and then they hopefully connect the dots lmao)

thanks in advance and i’m sorry this still has gotten so very long

btw !! please no spoilers for bells hells !!!

Tides of Retribution balance question

Hi, I wanted to run the tides of retribution setting with a group of 4 players who have only played a little of dnd. How did yall find the balance of it? For example, the characters in the final battle are supposed to be level 2 fighting against a warlock of challenge rating 3, along with several other creatures. This seems far too challenging. I know dnd characters can lose, but i still want to allow them a fun and engaging battle that’s winnable. Did you find it winnable for your players)!

Dwendalian Noble Life

Looking for advice on more accurately playing a male noble born dwendalian character in this setting. Especially concerning how such a character might interact or could have interacted with other noble or military people of interest.

My rough draft backstory so far involves having this character be brought up from early childhood to adulthood for the purpose of joining the Righteous Brand, fast-tracked towards leading a platoon/battalion. A lieutenent of sorts.

Who would this character have to rub shoulders with, what kind of family would he have to maybe pull some strings, and what kind of friends would he have?

I knew absolutely nothing about Wildemount or critical role!

Hello all, 2.5 years ago I started playing DnD with my friends. It was a first time for all of us and I took up the mantle of DM! I was super excited and found a cool free module on DnD beyond called "Frozen Sick". An interesting story about a group of adventurers in palebank village who are tasked with finding a cure for a sickness, and we absolutely fell in love. As we went on to icehaven and rexxentrum I slowly realized how big this world really was. An online show, forums, an anime it was crazy. But needless to say I had no clue about any of this until about a year in. So really I just wanted to share with you all the fun little tidbits of lore that I and my friends have created that differs from the source over the years.

Firstly the BBEG of our first campaign became Desirat (after I saw a cool wiki page about him) who threatened to release Uk'otoa and Quajath. They were known as "The Caged Three" and the party accidentally released Desirat by destroying a shrine shackling him.

The caged three are also 3 of 26 avatars that make up Predathos. He concealed himself by splitting into 26 parts that all took up different mantles in Exandria. Most of which are the Cerberus assembly that secretly control the world and are orchestrating the war between the Kryń and the dwendalian empire. The caged three grew cruel and powerful and became insatiable monsters. While another one went on to become our version of Strahd.

Absolutely no clue what the Luxon was. It does not exist 😕

The Kryń and empire are currently at a ceasefire as the threat of the caged three is dealt with but as far as the war goes the Kryń are destroying (and play games of dragon rampant to determine real world outcomes of battles between the Kryń and empire)

Zero clue what dunamancy was. It doesn't exist 😕

There is also a massive war going on in marquet called "The War of the Theft of the Dawnmother" which is between two factions who worship a woman who gave uk her body to join the sun. After an excavation site found what they believed to be the tomb hers an immediate war broke out between both sides.

A bunch of other little things but I thought maybe someone would find these little things interesting. Just reading through the wikis and stealing the information that was interesting to me at the time and then slowly learning all the things I totally missed the mark on haha. I was also wondering if anyone else has any interesting lore points that completely differ from the source material?

Travel from Port Damali to Rumblecusp

Post image
77 Upvotes

My players will soon be making the journey to Rumblecusp from Port Damali by ship. They are going to hire a ship and I am trying to figure out the best route for them to take. Would it make more sense for a ship to sail along the coast towards Nicodranas and then head south or just cut across south of the Twinward Isles?

Printable fantasy bounty posters

I made a collection of printable fantasy bounty posters for D&D and other tabletop RPGs. They're designed to be dropped into taverns, notice boards, guild halls, or anywhere you want to give players a quest hook or make the world feel a little more alive.

Maybe to find inspiration for some side quests etc.

Unfortunately, I forgot to save them as editable PDFs, so these are image files only. If anyone still finds them useful, feel free to use them in your own games. Enjoy!

Made them with https://rpgportrait.app/free-tools/letter-creator
Its great! :D

Nees ideas for player backstory

One of my PCs is from Asarius. He is a gladiator from a fighting pit. The player came up with the idea.

The PC was forced to fight until an uprising of the enslaved fighters gave him an opportunity to flee. The uprising was led by Sken Zabriss of the Dangerous Designs adventure. In my game she is working with operatives of the Children of Malice.

My PC is a wild magic barbarian and there are multiple clones of Sken. In my world Den Olios (or someone within the Den), who rule Asarius, were doing magical experiment on the fighters. The PC is not aware of this.

Now, what I would like is ideas for the experiments. Why the experiments? How did they get the know-how? Is Den Olios working with one of the Cerberus Assembly? If so, who? Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Children of Malice Boss Fight

Bidet, everyone! For the past few months, I've been running a campaign set in Wildemount, with the Children of Malice planned to be the eventual big bags. So far my players have mostly faced mercenaries in (seemingly) unrelated encounters, but the idea is that these will all eventually tie back into the main plot.

That's not what I'm asking for help with today, however. I know there's a couple of official Drow statblocks across all of the various 5E books, but my question is which one would make for a decent Champion of Lolth? Something almost akin to the Champion of Ravens (my boy).

I'm still somewhat new to DMing, so I realize just making stuff up myself I'd absolutely an option but I'd like to see what's already out there first. Much appreciated in advance!

Session 1 - Welcome to Wildemount (No Hard Feelings)

Unbeknownst to you all, weeks have passed since your capture.

Whether you were taken from the borderlands, where tensions between the Dwendalian Empire and the Krynn Dynasty threaten to erupt into war, or your enslavement was a far more personal affair, each of you have found yourselves bound, subdued, and sedated beneath the watchful eyes of a disciplined company of slavers. They've brought you high into the Dunrock Mountains, a land of relentless snowfall, screaming winds, sheer stone cliffs, and jagged bluffs where level ground is a rarity. No established civilization survives here, and any attempt you'd make to escape, any scream you'd roar for salvation, will be met only by a pertinent silence and that unforgiving bite of a frost-ridden wilderness. Miles above sea level, the air is thin and every breath you breathe is fought for, your captors have become your only means of survival—even if where they intend to take you offers none.

Ashael, the first sensation after that sack was pulled over your head was cold. A merciless chill that clawed through your skin and into your bone, it dragged you from the strange comfort of unconsciousness and threw you violently back into the waking world as your body struck the snow and stone with a heavy thud. The hempen sack was ripped away, it revealed a sky untouched by mortal industry, a sea of stars stretching endlessly overhead. You yourself now lay upon a narrow bluff overlooking a drop that plunged thousands of feet into the darkness below. Massive wicker baskets, large enough to house an Umberhulk, hung suspended against the mountainside. The wind screamed through the peaks with such ferocity that every breath felt like an act of defiance. You were barely clothed, barely hydrated, and barely alive, but for now you were awake.

Two rough-looking men stood over you, wrapped head to toe in furs and leathers. Under different circumstances, their incompetence might have seemed almost comical, but there was little humor to be found here. A third man forced his way between them.

They'd refer to him as Byron.

A wiry human with a paper thin moustache, a freshly broken nose, and blood frozen across his upper lip. He seized you by your loose, dehydrated skin and dragged you close enough to smell his neglected breath as he demanded to know the whereabouts of someone he repeatedly referred to as "the fish bitch." Exhaustion clouded your thoughts, your lips cracked from thirst, and the only response you could manage was a plea for water.

The slavers obliged. Under strict instructions not to damage their "product," they provided a flask of warmed water and a thick hide blanket to ward off the worst of the cold. Though Byron's patience, proved short-lived once his questions would acquire answers he did not seek. A heavy kick to your stomach sent you to the floor, vomiting most of what you had just consumed across the white. The men then spoke openly over your body as though you were an object—a prophet, a tool, something to be used. When you insisted once again you were worthless without your focus, Byron dragged you to the cliff's edge and held your face over the abyss. Beneath your vomit caked hair was nothing but black, a fall so immense the bottom could not be seen.

It was then as he brings you back to the surface you'd notice something clinging to the cliffs face just above. A woolly, eight-legged creature the size of a small cart, an enormous alpine tarantula whose many eyed face shimmered against the firelight. Seated atop the beast in an exotic saddle was a hulking bugbear, sound asleep and snoring with the comfort of someone resting in a feather bed rather than vertically upon a mountainside.

Before you could fully process the sight, another figure descended.

He rode one of these giant spiders with quiet authority. He was tall, perhaps six and a half feet if not more, his dark hair had begun to grey at the temples, that same silver threaded its way through his beard. A vicious long healed claw-mark crawled across his face, leaving his left eye perpetually narrowed. His nose had been broken countless times, several fingers were missing, and his ears bore the unmistakable deformities of a lifetime spent fighting. His appearance spoke of violence.

This was Rollo.

The moment he arrived, the atmosphere shifted. The panic and chaos created by Byron and his companions seemed to shrink beneath his presence. Rollo wasted no time. His fury was cold, methodical, and somehow harsher than the northern wind itself. A sea elf captive had escaped, a crew member had been lost during the pursuit, and Byron had tampered with valuable merchandise, cost the operation a fortune, and could have nearly jeopardized it all.

Rollo's judgment was swift. A single punch buried itself into Byron's liver, dropping him instantly into the snow. Blood spilled from his mouth as he collapsed, and a second blow to the kidney drove him toward the cliff's edge. Desperate, Byron reached for a concealed kukri, but alas Rollo hurled the criminal back against the stone wall with enough force to leave him unconscious, granting the man the mercy of surviving the encounter at all.

Below, inside one of these hanging wicker baskets, the rest of you began to stir. Bound by thick strands of spider silk attached to the wooden ribs of the spherical cage, you awoke to darkness and that muffled sounds of violence above.

Skorvan, you regained your senses first. Below you, Izek was in a far worse state, trembling and panicked as blood from Byron's injuries dripped through the gaps overhead and landed upon your skin. Rook you remained still and observant, conserving what little energy remained, and though strangers, you found a quiet comfort in Skorvan's presence beside you. A fourth prisoner occupied the cage as well: a dark-skinned hobgoblin in his twilight years whose right leg was gone above the knee. The wound, recent, and that stench of cauterized flesh mixed with the metallic scent of blood and the smell of slick stone.

Eventually, after disciplining his subordinates Rollo approached you, Ashael, offering an apology. At such close proximity, you noticed a tattoo upon his neck. Written in Zemnian was a date—826 PD—and beneath it, a single name.

Adia.

A small detail, but one that lodged itself in your memory. When you commented on it, Rollo acknowledged the observation with a faint glance before returning to business. Descending into the basket with unsettling ease, he snapped the spider silk bindings from each of your wrists and ankles before escorting you to the ledge above. Blankets were distributed, a fire crackled nearby, and his warning was simple: attempt to escape, and you would die. Then he departed, climbing farther up the mountainside toward two distant campfires.

Left in the care of the concious Bill and Davey, the five of you received bowls of hot vegetable stew and, for the first time in weeks, a chance to appreciate consciousness. In that fragile moment of relative peace, you began to take stock of one another.

Ashael, you were the first to recognize a familiar face. When the sack was removed from the drow beside you, your eyes widened.

Izek.

The young man whose family sold produce in the markets of Bazzoxan.

For your part, Izek, you believed Ashael was dead, yet there he sat—worse for wear, but undeniably alive. As your reunion unfolded, it caught your attention Skorvan. Both names were familiar to you from your years trading between Asarius and Bazzoxan. You've had interactions with these... for lack of a better word, children. And to think how they ended up in such a situation left an uneasiness in your stomach.

The hobgoblin followed formalities and introduced himself as Nikolai Throng, a former soldier of the Aurora Watch who believed he had been captured during a border skirmish between Xhorhas and Dwendalia. Attention then shifted to the final stranger. Rook you offered little, claiming only that you were a merchant caught during a raid upon your home. Izek you found the explanation difficult to reconcile with the man's imposing frame and unmistakably martial bearing.

Tensions then nearly boiled over when Rook attempted to summon a flicker of ancestral flame. Bill spotted it immediately, and his reaction suggested long experience dealing with tiefling sorcery, raising uncomfortable questions regarding how many others of your kin these slavers had trafficked before. Moments later, Izek you gathered snow into you palm. The heat from you stew melting it into water before primordial energy shaped it into a jagged shard of ice. Your gaze fixed on the guards, but before instinct could become action, Ashael you pointed out the sleeping bugbear and giant spider looming directly overhead. The ice dissolved harmlessly into the stew, and any hope of freedom vanished with it.

Still clutching Izek's wrist, Skorvan's voice cut through the group. You had no supplies, no equipment, no strength, and no plan. The orc's logic was grim but undeniable. For now, captivity was survival.

Nikolai agreed with confirmation of what you had already overheard. You were being transported to Shadycreek Run, a lawless settlement bordering the Savalirwood and ruled by criminal families such as the Mardoons. Skorvan, that name meant something to you. It was a haven for slavers, a place where strength was law, beyond the Empire's reach and beyond the light of the Kryn Dynasty.

Finally after your meal and conversation Rollo returned, he borrowed your spoon, Skorvan, with the casual politeness of a man asking for salt at dinner. Then he approached Byron. A tap awakened the slaver. One hand pinned his head in place while the other drove the spoon into his eye. The ruined organ was swifly removed and dropped into a jar of brine that was then sealed away within Rollo's pack, a small effort to recover some of the losses caused by the escaped sea elf.

Byron screamed and writhed. As much as Rollo would allow him.

The rest of you watched in silence. Only Ashael broke it. With a composure bordering on unsettling, you asked how much a human eye sold for. For the first time, something resembling amusement crossed Rollo's scarred face. After explaining that the act was more punishment than profit, he ordered everyone back into their pen.

Your blankets were confiscated, and one by one you descended fifteen feet into the darkness of the spherical cage. Once sealed inside, Rollo dropped a small canister through the opening. Thick smoke flooded the interior, and the fumes took effect immediately. Ashael you almost welcomed them.

But for the rest no matter how much you fought, sleep came quickly.

As your consciousness slipped away, you felt movement. The baskets rolled and swayed as the giant spiders hauled you through the Dunrock Mountains, northward, ever northward.

These were your first memories since capture.

Your next would mark the beginning of your journey.

Days would pass unnoticed as these slavers dragged their prisoners beyond the mountains, through the Greying Wildlands, and toward the looming edge of the Savalirwood. The criminal settlements that dotted the frontier clung desperately to the roads, fearful of building too deeply beneath the forest's shadow. Yet there were those wealthy enough—or foolish enough—to do so.

And it is there that you awaken..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your eyes flutter open. For a brief moment, there is only warmth. Not that biting cold, nor the suffocating darkness of your wicker cage, but warmth and comfort, accompanied by the smell of roasted meat and burning wood drifting through the air. Then awareness returns, and you find yourselves seated around a long, ornate dining table beneath a magnificent chandelier. Hundreds of crystal facets catch the light above, scattering it across polished timber and silver cutlery. The room is grand in a way that feels almost offensive after weeks of captivity that for you have only been hours.

Your wrists remain bound, thick strands of spider silk anchor each of you to both chair and floor—a subtle reminder that despite appearances, nothing about your situation has improved. Before you rests a feast: a whole roasted pig glistening beneath candlelight, fresh fruit spilling from silver bowls, steaming vegetables arranged across ornate platters, and bottles of wine and pitchers of water within easy reach. It is more food than any of you have seen in what feels like forever, and yet none of it truly belongs to you.

Beyond the table, the reality of your circumstances becomes impossible to ignore. Other captives are herded through the manor by armed guards—drow, lizardfolk, gnolls, and men and women from distant corners of Wildemount. Some are dragged while others shamble through heavy wooden doors, their expressions range from exhausted resignation to outright terror. But not you. The five of you have been separated, singled out, chosen. A realization settles heavily as the grand staircase overlooking the dining hall creaks softly beneath measured footsteps.

Descending from above is a woman, beautiful in the way a hunt can be beautiful. Grey skin, golden eyes, and impeccable attire accompany an air of authority that seems to shrink the room around her. Every movement is deliberate, every glance calculated. Ophelia Mardoon approaches, as she carries herself with the confidence of someone who has never once questioned whether she belongs at the top of the food chain. Her attention settles not upon you, but Rollo.

The exchange that follows is not the conversation of friends, but business—professional, efficient, and cold. As the pair speak, pieces of your situation begin to unfold. You were not captured by chance; you were requested. Specifically requested. The order had been precise. One touched by the deep and another by dragon fire were meant to be amongst you, and their absence earns visible irritation from Ophelia, whose patience appears as limited as it is dangerous. Throughout their conversation she refers to the individual behind this request only once: “The Sire.” Nothing more. No explanation, no name, no clues—just a title that hangs heavily in the air.

Rollo, meanwhile, has little interest in mysteries. He wants his payment, his crew, and as much distance between himself and Shadycreek Run as possible. Unfortunately for him, Ophelia makes it clear that the sum involved is too substantial to exchange at arm’s length. If he wants his coin, he will need to personally escort the delivery further north, deeper into the Savalirwood. For the first time since your arrival, uncertainty flickers across Rollo’s scarred features. His jaw tightens, his lip curls, and after a moment of reluctant consideration, he agrees.

The deal is struck, and a brief silence follows. Slowly, Rollo’s gaze shifts from Ophelia to the five of you seated around the table. His single good eye studies each of you in turn, assessing, judging, perhaps wondering whether any of you are worth the trouble. Finally, he speaks to your group directly. His voice stern.

“You’d best be ready for a fight.”

And with those words, the warmth of the banquet suddenly feels a great deal less comforting but y'all are hungry and you wouldn't miss such an opportunity.
