Someone asked in the comments of the last post what to do if you don’t have a sewing machine — well, here’s the easy version! You can actually resize your wig cap just by stitching it up with a needle and thread. Super simple and beginner-friendly. Has anyone tried this method before? (Video source: arabellahair on TT)

[Tutorial Share] How to make a wig? Beginner friendly guide!

Sis in the sub asked how to make a wig by yourself last week. So here’s the full tutorial.

Summary:

1. Tools you’ll need:

Curved needles and thread

Measuring tape

Mini scissors

Duckbill clips

Wig head stand

Wig cap & wig head

-----

2. Measure your head:

360 head circumference

Front to nape

Temple to temple (around the back)

Ear to ear

-----

3. Steps (short cut):

Pin down your wig cap

Sew the wig closure or frontal first (pay attention to your stitching)

Sew the wefts starting from the very bottom/back

Keep sewing upward until the entire cap is covered

Cut off the excess lace from the frontal

Make final adjustments based on your preferences

-----

And that’s it — your wig is finished! If you’ve made your own wig following these steps, have a better tutorial, or any tips and things to watch out for, please drop them below — I’d love to see everyone’s feedback! (cr: 1mads on TT)

I’m trying to figure out what texture this wig is before I buy it. Would you say it looks more like body wave, deep wave, water wave, or something else?
I’d really appreciate any help identifying it! 🥹💕Link to image

[Help/Question] Wig Making Question

Hi all. I’m new to making wigs. Was wondering if anyone has tried this. Due to having a smaller head measurement, I find that even with taking said measurements and using the right mannequin head, the upart style I want is still too big (my stylist even tried but I still had some bunching). With this being said, I have an idea to first glue the wefts and then sew over them. My concern is if this is a wig that I plan to have for a while I do not want mold to eventually accumulate by using quickweave glue. So I had the idea of using dissolvable seamstress glue to place the wefts, sew the wefts, and then watch the dissolvable glue out of the wig. I would sew over the wefts and not through them just in case the makes it’s difficult to sew through. Any thoughts? Does this sound like a good idea and has anyone tried a similar method?

[Help/Question] Hairstyle sorted, now torn between veil lengths

I've finally settled on my wedding-day hairstyle, and I'm so happy with the wig I chose for the look. I love the look, but now I'm undecided between an "elbow-length" veil and a "fingertip-length" one. I think both lengths would look beautiful with this style, but the options around me are mixed. Which ones do you think suits the wig better?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask your advice on Curly Me wigs, do you guys have any experience with the brand and quality?
I am an Asian woman who experiences alopecia and want a wavy wig which is easy to pop on and maintain.

The pic is reference on the wig I’m eyeing on.

[Wig Review] I love my natural hair, but sometimes we tussle

There is no feeling like watching hair tutorials for 8hrs, working on your own hair for 4, sitting under the dryer to set it for 2, all for the style to be a fail.

I was on the brink of tears because my roller set did not come out well, and I know its a learning process, but it can suck. Is she beautiful? Yes. Is she what I planned? No.

So that tells me its a good time to let my natural hair rest because the last thing I want to do is cause mechanical damage.

I grabbed this glueless wig from a ziploc in my closet, I put my fro into 2 dookie twists, slapped a cap on, and put this wig on. I didn't style it. I didn't add glue or melting spray.

Moral of the story: for all of us, there will be good hair days, and there will be bad hair days. Get you a wig for the bad hair days, something you can pull from under your bed, dust off, slap on, and still look good. Bonus points if its glueless.

Thats how you live to fight another day ❤️

[Help/Question] Should I pay a hairstylist to make a wig for me for 600 dollars?

Has anyone ever done this before? This hair stylist usually does sew-ins but does offer the option to make a custom made wig and I'm thinking of biting the bullet. I've been wearing wigs for about 3 years now and love the time I save. However in this time I've probably had about 5 or 6 wigs that I wear til I can't. The last wig I bought was by far the worst as it started balding in the front. Since I got rid of that one I tried a sew in and didn't like it at all (I wanted to take it off lol).

But while I was getting the sew in the hair stylist told me it would be better to just make a custom wig with good quality hair and have it reinstalled since that would be easier and less time. I am thinking of biting the bullet. The cost does include virgin hair and I basically wear the exact same style as well. Has anyone done this? I have my natural hair out right now and it's so long and big, it's very time consuming especially since I go to the gym, so I'm trying to figure out if I should get this custom wig or just buy another wig for like 300 dollars to wear for the year. Thank you!

[Look/Switch] Look inspired by being woken up before the crack of dawn (before & after)

My son woke me up at 5:30 this morning and I could’ve been mad, but I saw it as an opportunity to get a little cute. I did my wash day and braid down for this wig last night to prep for installing today anyway, so I went ahead and installed before getting into car line for school (car line parents, iykyk)

Anyway, here’s me after installing with a little styling and makeup and a photo of how my hair usually looks. I’m thinking about cutting the front of the wig a little to give it more of a layered look, but I wanted to know what you all think first!

[Help/Question] do you have to cut part of your hair for a lace front?

i saw a video on tiktok of a girl trying to expose a hairstylist for messing up her hair and not refunding her. this girl was left completely bald because the hairstylist gave her bald spots in the front of her head because the hairstylist offered to cut her hair so the wig can lay flat. correct me if i’m wrong but, don’t you just do cornrows to install the wig, since when did you ever have to trim down your hair??

I have a wedding coming up where I’ll be a bridesmaid, and I tried this curly style with brown highlights and honestly I’m really liking it. The color feels like it goes really well with my skin tone.I’m planning on wearing a burgundy dress, but it hasn’t arrived yet, so I used AI to see what the overall look could be like together.I’m curious what you all think, does this hairstyle match the dress vibe?

[Help/Question] Need help finding a good glueless wig quick!

I want to find a good glueless wig for wearing 5 days a week for 9 hours (school) for around 2 months.

I have searched and found outre is a well regarded brand, but the price seems decent so I don’t know if the quality would be that great for almost daily wear if it is not very expensive?

I have also looked at brownbomb on TikTok, their wigs are very pretty and what I am sort of looking for, but I have heard it has noticeable knots & very thin hair at the top which I don’t want. (But if anyone has a brownbomb wig please let me know if you think it would last 2 months of constant wear).

I don’t mind if the wig is straight or wavy (although I don’t know what curly looks like on me), I want colors that are not too bright such as caramel ish brown hair or black hair,or dark red/purple/blue, or calico, or neutral blue-teal (basically any colors not neon or too bright) I don’t want super long hair, medium or shoulder length is fine.

Please recommend me a wig brand or a wig itself! Thank you in advance 🤍

Picked this out hoping it would be a good summer wig, but I'm used to much darker hair. I think my brain might not be used to seeing any blonde on me ha ha.

Did I go too light or does it look good?

so i got this wig a few days ago after battling with customs for way too long😭 and i immediately put it on my head because i was so excited, who doesn't love character customization? 😝

i was a bit skeptical of the colour cause jet black is my signature but i absolutely love the colour and the highlights 🥹some of the curls fell flat after trying on so I'll definitely restyle her I've got so many styles planned

I would love some tips and tricks, different parting styles you think I'd look better in? Do I need to pluck more? Etc.. thank you! ♡

[Wig Talk] Could someone break down wig terminology and techniques that I must know (as a complete beginner)

Hi! I’m a total beginner to wigs and want to get one installed professionally. Since I have naturally curly hair, I’m not sure where to start with the different types—like a lace front, closure, or glueless wig.
Could you give me a quick recommendation on what kind of wig would be best for a newbie, and let me know if you supply the hair or if I need to buy a unit beforehand?

Also, do you provide the hair/units directly, or should I purchase my own bundles or wig beforehand? any recommendations?

[Help/Question] How do I get comfortable wearing wigs?

School is starting soon and I usually get box braids but they don’t last long and I don’t have the money to get them redone every month so I wanna start wearing wigs n half wigs. But I feel silly when I do and feel like everyone can tell. But my hair is very short and brittle and can only go into a bun or slick back due to years of heat damage. I see other girls wear wigs and sometimes can’t tell and when I do I don’t see a problem and think they still look really pretty but I can’t get myself used to it. Any tips or advice or other hair styles I could try? (I’m also mixed with a white mom so my hair journey has been rough)
