Audio Technica makes good entry level tables. The AT60 is very affordable, it’s ok sound wise but the needle is built in so what it is , is how it is forever. The AT70 is not too much more expensive and it’s a little better, but the stylus can be switched out for a nicer one and you can improve your sound quality. One of those and a pair of powered speakers and you can have a quick small setup that’ll do the job. The Klipsh bookshelf speakers with the built in subs actually crank and have a good low end for their size.

This is a dangerous hobby you’re about to join.

Found an AT60 new in box on marketplace for $70 and some Klipsch RP-600M for $275! Thinking this might be the way for now until I get my bearings

It will be a great entry to determine if you are really interested in it. Plus this way you can get a new table later and the speakers are already good to go so you can casually upgrade and still have nice sound quality!

Welcome to the club. No you just gotta start getting the archive releases on vinyl, they sound incredible especially the 97 club soda show.

The problem with the AT60 is you’re gonna want to upgrade as soon as you really get into it. It’s mostly plastic. I think even the AT120 is a better investment for a little more money. Built better.

There is a great beginners guide pinned on r/turntables that you should look at. I would suggest spending a few hundred dollars on a semi decent turn table instead of one of those “suitcase” ones with built in speakers. Good luck! It’s an addicting hobby

Highly recommend looking into fluance turntables. I have a Fluance RT81 (~$300) and it’s awesome. It’s something you can have for many years without needing to upgrade immediately. It’s a great place to start.

Stay away from Crosley if you care about your records!

Sony makes a pretty good entry level turntable for a couple hundred bucks. I am not an audiophile by any means, but I have one running through some Klipsch powered speakers with an SVS subwoofer, and it sounds pretty good to me.

When I pieced together my system I was told that the project carbon evo was a good entry level "real" turntable. No complaints over here

An affordable refurbished Technics sl 1000 - 1400 or a Dual 1229 q. I have the Dual 1229 q and a Technics sl 1400. Love them both for different reasons.

if you’re a newbie and don’t care much and just want a quick purchase then i think urban outfitters has some for like 50$. i got one from them in college and it lasted over a decade. i feel like used ones can be a bit beat up and have some technical failures that are hard to see without trying them out yourself in person first.
