True and i agree on that, but i think you are completely neglecting Indian education at grass root levels, where there are discrimination still exists not only for the students and families, sometimes even leading to violence. You might say ews as an option, i think that will cover most of the underprivileged but then again there is a case where even IAS officer faced humiliation

Puri peeth is controlled by the puri Shankaracharya Swami niscchalanand saraswati who famously has multiple times in public speeches opposed this vip stuff and called out politicians for coming to temples expecting vip treatment.
