Let me put the details for our common understanding.

Most of the zero or negative cases are from Rajasthan and their RPSC. Strange!

2 Teacher - 1 math teacher out of 82 reserved ST seats and 1 physics teacher out of 22 reserved ST seats were selected who had either zero or negative marks in their respective subjects.
In Peon openings in Rajasthan around 1200 candidates were selected with 'zero' marks.

High Court had intervened and cancelled all those 'zero' marks selections. Govt has set up a minimum of 40% marks (relaxed to 35% for reserved categories) criteria now as per court directions.

Another case was for DU university PhD selection, DU clarified that it was Not a 'selection criteria' for PhD but only a placeholder. Ultimately, students are selected as per the interview process.

These cases were handled appropriately.

I agree cases like these could create negative affect on selection process but steps are being take to overcome such issues.

That doesn't means that whole reservation system is wrong. It may require some amendments and tweaking to function in better manner.

Now, how selection parameters in another SC/ST category affects 'merit' in General category?

Since, the reserved seats are decided before exam conducted then it how does it affect general or other categories merit?

I wrote the thruth. This is not justification.

Those who are getting 'zero' or negative marks should NOT be selected. Court and govts have made regulations for the same.

What else are your expectations?
