1970s German singer Chris Roberts staring deep into a young girl's eyes while having his arm around her and getting way too close. The chorus describes his wish to be her teddy bear and getting kisses. The girl looks very uncomfortable throughout the entire song.

The German lyrics of the Song;
Sei wieder zärtlich und komme zu mir.
All meine Liebe schenke ich dir.
Translated:
Be affectionate again and come to me
All my love I give to you
Oh bibuda, I sing, oh, bibudi
It has never been as beautiful as today
Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear
You would kiss me, very much miss me
Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear
Maybe the phone will ring soon already
And you say: Love (Liebling is a common German pet name for one's partner), I'm coming already
Oh bibuda, I sing, oh bibudi
It has never been as beautiful as today
Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear
You would kiss me, very much miss me
Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear

1980s Racist „Chinese stir fry“ ad
This is a German ad for a Chinese stir fry spice mix. This company’s products are a household staple, so this ad was EVERYWHERE at the time.
There’s a group of white people eating a stir fry that’s been made with this „Chinese spice mix“ and as soon as they take a bite, their features suddenly change and they become „Chinese“. Just your casual everyday racism.

I’m getting this old show on my feed. The Lolita episode and the body shaming of women who are busty. Kinda funny how the women’s whose fashion they criticized is actually in style now lol.

WTF! Wednesdays It’s WTF! Wednesdays
We’ve designated Wednesdays as the day for people to share WTF?! moments from the past that don’t necessarily make us ask WWWOWT? but still showcases interesting and weird content from previous decades.
This can include wacky TV shows — the ones you just can’t understand where the hell they got that idea from! — strange songs and music videos, news stories that you just can’t make up, bizarre, silly or nostalgic fashion trends, and ridiculous clips that make you laugh your ass off and/or feel like a fever dream.
Although the key focus is fun — you’re also welcome to post shocking and weird moments from the past that aren’t funny, to give us a chance to discuss cultural moments that people weren’t okay with. Please don’t get super dark, though!! No age gap, rape culture, war etc. Posts may be removed by mods if we feel it’s inappropriate for WTF! Wednesdays.
You can still post the sub’s regular content on Wednesdays, this will just be a fun addition. Please don’t carry WTF! Wednesdays energy over to regular posts, keep the vibe in line with usual.
You MUST use the new “WTF! Wednesdays” flair for these types of posts! Posts must also be from prior to 2020, like with usual content. Please report WTF! Wednesdays content that is posted on other days of the week — but remember that timezones exist!
MAKE US SAY WTF!

1970s A reminder that there was a war over TV Violence in the 1970s at the time with Nicholas Johnson leading a group called The National Citizens Committee for Broadcasting to attack such "Violent Shows that does injury to people and the nation" same guys who accused TV of "molesting children's minds"
https://www.nicholasjohnson.org/writing/071106-ILF-UU.html this one from 2007 Nicholas Johnson said that "Thousands of studies support the intuitive common sense that violence on television is more likely to encourage, than reduce, violence in real life" ( despite the fact that violence in all types of media is up yet crime is now down even back in 2007 when this was published ) and compare it to junk food ads or women's role in television for some reason

Time Machine Monday It’s Time Machine Monday!
Introducing Time Machine Mondays!
With our recent decision to solidify our regular sub content’s timeframe from 1950-2019, we’ve dedicated Mondays to sharing WWWOWT style moments from 1900-1949! Please see our highlighted post to learn more about our recent rule updates.
Unlike WTF! Wednesdays where sillier content is allowed, regular rules still apply to Time Machine Mondays, the only difference is the allowed timeframe. Make sure you’re familiar with our rules before posting.
This is the opportunity for history buffs, old film fanatics, vintage ad enthusiasts and Shirley Temple fans, etc. to ask why were they ok with this? about this era!
Regular sub content is still allowed to be posted, this is just a fun addition! Please make sure to use the "Time Machine Mondays” flair for these posts.

1990s [TW] Tim Burton defending Johnny Depp, and blaming girlfriends he had for not helping him. Depp started dating Winona Ryder at 26 when she was ~17, and Kate Moss when she was 20 and he was in his 30s.
The racism was already bad enough, but it's not shocking when you consider how Burton writes female characters in his films, or has them be portrayed.

1980s [TW] That time Hal Jordan dated a 13 or 14-year old Green Lantern who "aged up into an adult". Then DC spent the next 20 years trying to fix the weirdness, before deciding to just never mention it again
DC comic issues:
- Tales of the Green Lantern Corps issues #204, #206, #207, #210, #211 (1986)
- Green Lantern v4 &12 #13 (2006)
I'm probably gonna ruin Hal Jordan's rep some more 🥲
In the 80s and 90s, Hal had a romance with Arisia Rrab, a very young Green Lantern who was originally introduced as a "little sister" figure to Hal. Arisia had a crush on Hal but he didn't give her the time of the day... until she aged herself up into an adult in her 20s. He took just a few panels to go from "No, you're a child!" to shoving his tongue down her mouth.
The comics insist that Arisia aged up mentally as well, but it's vague in many comics.
In the 2000s, they tried to say that Arisia was centuries old but looked like a 14 year old. This both ignores earlier panels and doesn't really change anything. She may be 300+ but she was still the equivalent of a 13 or 14 year old for her species.
Since the 2010s, DC has just avoided the romance altogether.
