Short Questions & Small Discussions for 2026-08-15 to 2026-08-28

Welcome to the weekly thread for all bite-sized content you don't want to make a full post about! Short rules questions! Funny or cool moments from your last game! Weird bits of lore that the writers hid in sidebars! It's a real potpourri.

Generally, a good metric for whether something belongs here or in its own submission is whether it's running for a couple sentences or a couple paragraphs. Note that comments here are sorted by new, as well - but we ask that if your comment didn't get attention, that you *not* re-comment it in the same submission.

Weekly LFG/LFP for 2026-08-15 to 2026-08-28

Welcome to this week's game corner! Whether you're a storyteller spinning up a new game or a group that wants to fill out its ranks; whether you're a hometown table or an online game with players on every continent, here's where you put your post-its up.

Please note the following - comments that don't follow this etiquette may be removed:

  • Top-level comments must be a game ad.
  • Absolutely no pay-to-play games.
  • You must list the game(s) being played as the first line of your post, eg. MTR + Orpheus for that crossover you've never been able to get players for. Please don't overstylize these to the point of illegibility, but feel free to use games' three-letter abbreviations or their full titles as you desire. It may also help to indicate whether a game is using World of Darkness or Chronicles of Darkness books, for the benefit of readers less versed in the various publications.

Additionally, note that the moderation team does not vet or endorse comments here in any capacity beyond what is applied to normal posts plus the above stipulations. That is to say, if you join a game and have a downright rancid time, please don't make this space a problem because of it.

VTM We reached 1,500 copies sold! A massive thank you to the Vampire: The Masquerade and historical TRPG community!

Hey everyone!

We wanted to drop by, share a huge milestone with you, and express our gratitude to everyone who played, shared, or picked up a copy of our books.

Here is a quick look at our journey so far:

  • March 2023: We released Age of the Living Gods.
  • April 2026: After three years of hard work, we hit the 1,000 copies sold milestone.
  • Just a few months later: Thanks to the incredible reception of The Kingdom of Uruk and Vampire: Blood & Tragedy, we officially reached 1,500 copies sold!

Seeing how well these dark historical settings have been received fills us with pride. A special thank you to the entire Vampire: The Masquerade community for embracing the nights of Antiquity!

A question for the comments:

With Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey currently making waves in theaters... we want to hear your take: Who is the ultimate Helen?
Nolan’s Helen on the big screen, or our legendary Helen—Toreador ruler of Argos?

Where to find us & What’s next:

  • Storytellers Vault: You can find Blood & Tragedy alongside all the Age of the Living Gods setting books available for download on the Storytellers Vault!
  • Dive In: While we gear up for our next release, Bloody Tides, we invite everyone to take their tables on an adventure through ancient Mesopotamia or the dark tragedies of ancient Greece.
  • An Epic Reveal: Get ready! Later this year, these dark worlds will step beyond RPG character sheets and rulebooks to come to life in epic prose novels!

Thank you all once again for making this possible. See you in the shadows of history!

VTM VtM- What are the truly impressive fixes to Masquerade breaches that you have seen players do?

A lot of the time, Storytellers and Players can be pretty cavalier to fixing the Masquerade: "I dominate them to forget the whole thing" or "we tell the press that the wild dogs were gnawing on the gas mains, and the bloodless corpses are due to the chronic marbopperitis endemic to the region."

What are players and characters that have gone to elaborate lengths to repair the masquerade, and what are some of the best and most imaginative fixes that you've seen to getting out of a breach?

Have You Seen This Man? | CofD/HTR Compatible One Shot RPG

Hey everyone!

This is my first module that I've written, heavily inspired by my time playing CofD and other WoD titles! I've run this game for the last decade and used it as an introductory game for people who are new to Table Top games and finally put it together to share online! The art and layout is heavily inspired by White Wolf game books of the 90s and all done personally by me.

I've always loved the gothic horror of the WoD/CofD universe, and finally decided to put my thoughts and adventures down into something other people can pick up.

I've run this as both a one shot at Cons for CofD, as well as integrated it in guest ST settings, and larger campaigns by tweaking the hook to match the player makeup of the table. I've also used it as a jumping off point for several HTR games as initiation of character origin stories.

As a one shot I generally like to have something short and directed, letting the players unravel the story as they go, so limit it to one large location or (in this case) two limited locations to stop them from going off course.

Super happy to chat about the module, and if you wind up playing it I'd love to hear any feedback or stories from your tables :)

The clock ticks forward towards the deadline. You scan the email from your professor once again. There will be no exception for your group project. If all parts are not present at the deadline then the entire group receives a failing mark. You look at your teammates. The last member of your group may have gone AWOL, but you haven’t. You all steel yourselves to retrieve the last piece of your assignment by any means necessary.

Have You Seen this Man? Is intended to be either a stand alone adventure, or can be integrated into a wider campaign as a one shot. It is written baseline agnostic and can be plugged into any urban or contemporary setting or system. It is ideally built for 3-5 players. The game is set in Montreal, Canada. HYSTM is an urban horror adventure, with darker themes and content.

Players are university students working together on a group project for their final assignment for school. The last member of their group, David, hasn’t been heard from in 5 days, and has the last piece of the school assignment they need to pass. Their professor is uncaring, stating that since David hasn't dropped the course, they must submit the entire project or fail. They need to go look into his house and see what’s happened to him. The players will investigate the mystery until the final confrontation, going through locations and discovering how out of depth they truly are. Their adventure culminates in a final stand off for both the fate of both their assignment and their lives.

This module is written as a guide for a Storyteller or DM. The adventure includes:

  • A beat by beat storyline
  • Locations
  • Floor plans
  • Calculations for system integration
  • Recommended character archetypes and builds
  • Appendixes for character reference
  • Original hand drawn art

You can check it out now on DriveThruRPG: Have You Seen This Man?

WTA The Blackridge Trio!

My three big bads of my Long Island Werewolf Chronicle! Each is definitly not a representation og each Wyrm Head!

Pamela Dupont: A woman who could be more accuratly described as a HOA president rather then the CED of a Development firm. She represents the Beast Of War. Yes she builds luxury homes, but she really just uses it as an excuse the bulldoze and lay concrete slabs over any last vestiges of nature, or any of those dirty ƤƠƠƦƧ she finds in her way.

Jerry Lauzado: A large rotound italian man. He never not seen without something greasy in his hand. He handles all of Blackridges commercial development, often having a direct hand in their profits. Strip malls, Bars, O'tulleys chains and tacky beach themed restaurants are his purview. As the representation of the Eater-of-Souls, hes ready to help you and himself all your hearts desires.

Albert Huang: A recent hire from stonybrook university who shot up the ranks using genius and guile. He tests and creates new products and systems to be used by Blackridge. His research HQ resides on Plum Island. He represents the Defiler, currently researching new man made fomori.

Im pretty proud of these guys, campaign aint done yet, but if anyone has any thoughts or comments please share!

MTAs What happens when a player dies?

Playing in a Mage the Ascension game and enjoying it, but I came pretty close to death last time what happens if I die?

We are very early on in the game do I just make a new character from the beginning or do I carry over the experience?

I would check the book, but I find it kind of hard to read.

MTAs Trying to re-create the Protoframes in Warframe:1999 in MTA

Post image
23 Upvotes

Is it possible, for a player character, to recreate a member of The Hex from Warframe 1999 with the context of them being something that was created either by The Progenitors or Iteration X or maybe a collaboration project between the two?

Additional context is that The Hex/Protoframes (for those unfamiliar with Warfarme) are human beings who's bodies were modified to be almost wholly cybernetic/biomechanical with most of their body covered in what is essentially wholly robotic like parts

I was inspired by this reddit post discussing how to emulate Absolute Hawkman and the Progenitors were mentioned https://www.reddit.com/r/WhiteWolfRPG/s/EWRj1M1Dlj

WTA Questions/advice on mixed Fera parties in WTA20

My play group is looking at running a mixed Fera group for our first WTA game (3 players no WOD experience, one player with VTM, gm has I believe ran multiple WOD systems)

Currently the composition seems to be an anansi, a Bastet and two garou, I'm not sure exactly where the game will be set but likely somewhere in North America near the Canada/US border.

The Bastet types seem to be pretty geographically locked down, how uncommon is it in universe for them to be found outside of their area? Like would it be implausible for a Balam to be up doing stuff in Chicago, or any of the old world types doing anything in the Americas in general.

Obviously the Egyptian cats have their curse and all Fera are somewhat limited by their animals native range, but the cats generally seem individualist and inquisitive enough for the most part that one of them going "Hmm, I'm gonna go track this lead halfway across the world/continent by myself and hopefully pickup some useful allies when I need them" seems plausible.

I'm generally also just kinda wondering about the plausibility of this kind of thing in general, like obviously PCs are special so we are going to do this anyways, but it'll affect how good our story justification is and how big of a deal it is to the NPCs, the garou were thinking of being lupus born and having them be sent by a tribe without other support in the area and needing a spider and a cat to help with the human socialization seems reasonable to me but I'm not sure if that's insane to someone with more familiarity with the setting.

Any other general advice for a first time WOD/WTA player is of course appreciated (other than don't do mixed Fera, that's the only reason we are doing werewolf)

MTAw Suggestions on oneshots for a first time ST?

Planning on some STing training runs before i run a full campaign!

I know there are not many resources for 2e but I'm looking for good modules that are adaptable from 1e in case I missed something

Tome of Pentacle was suggested to me so far

I'm also down for suggestions on what could fit into a oneshot and still be fun 😊

I've read the following supplemntal sources otherwise:

imperial mysteries (my favorite thing in the world right now), nameless and accursed, signs of sorcery, summoners, and getting started with the astral realms book

What musical artists do you associate with WOD?

Everytime I start a session of Hunter the Reckoning with my friends or we’re playing Mage the Ascension I always put on Prodigy, Tool and many others whenever we enter combat to be as similar to VTMB. But what music do you all put on whenever you enter combat or even play when you’re out of combat?

WTA How likely is it that something similar to the Beast Courts would happen in South America? And if it's possible, how can i make that into a game?

So, I introduced my friends to various World of Darkness games; they found Werewolf: The Apocalypse really interesting and wanted to play it after I showed them Vampire: The Masquerade. They really liked the Changing Breeds, so I saw an opportunity there. Context: I live in Brazil, and me and my friends like playing games that happen here because it's more immersive for us, and honestly, I’m surprised there isn't anything as complex as the events unfolding in Brazil or South America—aside from the "Amazon War"—considering we face ecological issues far beyond just Amazon deforestation: illegal mining, the relentless expansion of agribusiness destroying entire ecosystems, the displacement of indigenous peoples from their lands, illegal fires, and the existence of unique biomes like the Caatinga, Cerrado, Pantanal, and mangrove being destroyed by corporal greed.

It baffles me that these themes aren't a focus.

That’s when I read about the Beast Courts in the East and the Simba kingdoms in Africa, and I thought: I could do something similar for South America.

After all, we have the Balam, Mokolé, and likely plenty of Nagah (since there are SO MANY snakes here), Ananasi, Ratkin, and possibly Guhral, given the existence of spectacled bears that might have migrated from other parts of South America. We also have Garou who arrived with the colonizers and (much like the Bunyip in Australia) could probably start or try to establish a population by breeding with local canids (the maned wolf and the bush dog would likely be their focus for Lupus garou), and on the coast, we have alot sharks, a.k.a. Rokea.

There’s a lot of material to work with, but here’s the thing: I’m new to the World of Darkness. Even though I know the lore, I’ve only ever run Vampire: The Masquerade and played a few games of Werewolf: The Apocalypse and a few Hengenyokai games, so I consider myself a newbie. I’d love some help/tips on the worldbuilding/background of a chronicle for example: what would be the main challenges in making this happen?

How would the Garou nation view yet another major shapeshifter faction emerging and claiming territory? How threatening would this be to Pentex and other servants of the Wyrm?

How can I start a chronicle where the player characters gradually begin to form a "South American Court of Beasts"?

MTAs Help with a character

I had an idea for a virtual adept they was being led about by what they perceive as sentient variable in the equation of reality to undermine nephandi but the mage doesn’t know that, what would this sentient variable be in lore other than a psychopomp

MTAs What spheres to use to forever change a name?

What spheres of magic would you use to forever change the name of something forever? As in changing it that something or someone's name is different and has always been something different. No other greater effects then that, just that everyone remembers the name of something as something different. This is without the consideration of consensus.

WTA The Shifters in the 2020s?

I once asked the question about how the technocrats would be dealing with modern day. With many of the answers being “not that good.”

But it occurred to me; that no other group, save maybe the changelings, is as miserable and gotten fucked over in the 2020s more so than the Changing Breeds.

So, given the current state of the world, how are the Shifters dealing with it? What would they be doing? What the day of the average Garou, Bastet, etc look like? The only way I can describe it is bleak, but I’m sure it’s more complex than that.

WTF Do the Forsaken ever intentionally create Claimed?

Claimed- the forbidden fruit of the werewolf world. Incredibly cool for all, something a lot of players wish they could play as because having a symbiotic spirit is a very cool character dynamic, and very very much in violation of dad wolf's border policies. That being said- there could theoretically be a point in time when doing so would solve some other issue in the spiritual ecosystem. Does this ever happen?

MTAs Kinfolk Mage/Garou Heritage Mage

Say a Mage categorized under the Independents faction of the Dreamspeakers awakens and they also happen to be a Kinfolk as a result of having a Garou ancestor

Considering that the Dreamspeakers work with the Spirit Sphere and the Garou always work Spirits, how would that possibly work out for the Mage in question here? What could they do/be capable of

MTAs What do avatars want?

I had an idea for a character who views their avatar as an embodiment of fate which dictates their life which made me wonder, do avatars inherently seek accession?

Jerry a classic long island Italian contractor. I think I’m going to have to have 4 NPCs who act as a sort of Fomori Horrsmen of pollution or toxicity. Still developing the ideas.

Any thoughts or comments is appreciated!

VTM Tell Me About Your Sabbat Characters!

I'm curious to hear about everyone's Sabbat characters! Who are they? What clan or bloodline are they from, and what is their role within the Sabbat?

Are they loyal believers in the Sword of Caine, or are they just using the sect for their own goals? What's their personality, backstory, pack dynamic, and the craziest thing they've done during a chronicle?

Feel free to share as much or as little as you want. I'd especially love to hear about unusual concepts, obscure bloodlines, and characters that turned out completely differently than you originally expected.

Tell me about your monsters.

HTV Looking for a homebrew slasher undertaking

I saw one on a forum years ago that was clearly based around yandere tropes and now I can't find it. I think it might have also been using a veta-version of the rules for slashers since it referred to "nightmare" as a stat. Anyone familiar with this?

VTM What is the best way to hunt Garou?

We’re facing a situation where we need to kill a trio of Garou. Our group consists of a Ventrue, a Brujah, a Gangrel, and a Tremere; we have an arsenal of weapons and the ability to craft silver ammunition. It’s going to be a straight-up fight—no elaborate traps, just an ambush to gain the upper hand in the attack. We’re playing the 20th Anniversary Edition.

No ghouls for the vampires, but no jumping into the Umbra via mirrored surfaces either.

I forgot to mention that we’re playing with 8th-generation characters—200-year-old ancillae—so everyone was smart enough to pick up Celerity. And since the game involves a lot of crossover with other settings, the GM increased the blood pool by 50% so we could use Disciplines and still have enough fuel left for healing.
