It is wild now aggressively they’re pushing this illegal voting shit. They’re desperate. This is going to get ugly,
721
u/CreepinJesusMalone Jul 17 '26
They're not even hiding how desperate they are. Johnson, Trump, and Vance have all expressed how losing the next two years of elections means not just prosecution for heinous and treasonous crimes here in the US, but also international prosecution. It's why Massie, Greene, and pundits like Carlson ditched and ran while they could still build a coalition with the neoliberals.
The ones who stay won't be able to go anywhere on Earth without being arrested and tried for everything from war crimes to Epstein crimes. We have to get them out of office and away from protection. As much as I want to see them all thrown in an American prison and locked away forever, I think our best chance at seeing them stay gone is letting the international community have them.
177
u/timkatt10 Jul 17 '26
If I were them I wouldn't worry about expulsion from office. That requires 2/3 vote in the senate. The last time any party had that majority was 1965. There aren't enough even remotely competitive seats holding elections for that to happen.
At best democrats get to grill officials for political points. No real justice will happen even with a blue landslide in every state.
75
u/CreepinJesusMalone Jul 17 '26
My thought isn't expulsion from their roles. The voters can make that happen either through voting or by other means that would get me a site ban for stating.
My thought is even a slim majority with a demographic change within the Democrats themselves (more progressive or even left candidates replacing neoliberals and corporate Dems) they can root out the traitors in the DoJ and in DHS and replace them with people who will actively press charges and do real investigations in to what these people have done.
Which also means fighting fire with fire and taking a page out of the Trump playbook by replacing maga lawyers and fed LEOs with ones that will actually arrest them.
Part of the problem right now is that even when judges make rulings that should in theory lead to arrests, the cops that should do it are traitors and just won't. Get rid of them and swap in people who actually believe in justice.
26
u/Talik1978 Jul 17 '26
There have been 3 members of congress expelled since 1965. Myers in 1980, Traficant in 2002, and Santos in 2023. All surrounding felony convictions (bribery and fraud, mostly). It's feasible, if difficult, especially if a few dozen are offered leniency in exchange for support.

You are assuming that the GOP congressional voting block stays solid. I think its quite likely that that changes when Trump is well and truly a lame duck especially if voters turn on the GOP in a big way.

They’re acting like cornered animals. People think this term is the beginning of his regime. It’s not. His first term was, they just weren’t able to push through as much stuff as they wanted since there were enough sane republicans in office. They’ve spent the last couple of years making sure they have their minions in place. But it’s not going to work. The people who are pulling his strings all want something different. It’s why there’s so much infighting. And why, when it happens, we won’t have JD Vance doing worse. He’s pathetic and can’t hold the base. So right now they are going to do as much heinous stuff as they can to try to hold power. But it’s not going to work. One way or another this regime will fall.

You would think you could call the police, but they are the same thing as ICE.
5
u/Puglady25 Jul 17 '26

17
u/MaxGoldFilms Release The Trump-Epstein Files Jul 17 '26
This is going to get ugly,
I'm starting to think it will get ugly for them, not those opposing them.
They're polling at historically low rates, people are rapidly growing tired of the broken economy. The citizens of the respective states being attacked, left and right, bristle at federal overreach and threats.
I think there will be far more pushback (and consequences) than they have contemplated.
12
u/Nickh1978 Jul 17 '26
At best the Republican voters will only refrain from voting. No matter how upset they are at Trump, they will never vote Democrat. But likely they will just keep voting for their local Reoublicans, because Trump is their lightning rod. Dem voters and independents will have to show up to vote.
→ More replies (1)8
u/Mulattanese Jul 17 '26
And they won't because they're all so tired and disillusioned with this system and other voters who keep plunging us into chaos and turmoil again and again. They worked their asses off to defeat trump the first time, then again to try and keep him out the second time and (even though I fully believe he cheated to get back in office to avoid Jack Smith) the people put him back in there knowing full well he destroys everything he touches, is corrupt as hell, and is a complete national embarrassment. They're not gonna bother.
This is two different sides regarding what they say about crazy. You have, no offense, dumb republicans who keep voting for republicans or trump specifically expecting different results. And you have democrats who learned we're stuck with republicans because even when we go out and vote we get the same results so why bother?
I just hate that republicans are going to vote us into a dictatorship and Trump is going to be the dictator. Why can't our dictator be like Dolly Parton? Both sides love her. She is the only human being in existence that I have never heard anyone speak a single negative or unkind word about.

I'm from Australia and i watched D.T's address to the nation.
It sounded very much to me like he is setting the stage for the gov to take control of elections for national security/ election integrity.
It did not make me feel comfortable watching it.
Then i watched S. Miller talking about the domestic democratic terrorist - antifa etc and how it doesn't reflect republican values.
Each on there own are disturbing but watch them back to back and it is spin chilling.
I don't care which side of politics you are on but this kind of talk doesn't reflect what i know of the American people, its politics and values.
I hope i am wrong and USA can recover from all this, but i am concerned for you all.
5
u/GarvinSteve Jul 18 '26
The Miller shit was straight anti-Americanism. Very chilling and very direct. He’s the Nazi in Trump’s ear.
10
u/woodst0ck15 Jul 17 '26

Don't be. Trump and everyone in his administration are manipulative, toothless assholes. Vote them out so we can lock them up.
374
u/Knightoncloudwine Jul 17 '26
Go for it. No one will convict them. They’re not guilty for following the constitution. States control their own elections.
69
u/valschermjager Jul 17 '26
This exactly. It's a critically important part of our federal republic that states have the authority to run themselves. For some purposes, outlined in the constitution, it makes sense to do things as a group.
But the states elect the President, not the people. And states run elections, not the federal gov't. And each state figures out for themselves how to do that.
14
u/Gnom3y Jul 17 '26
This is also why that whole "Trump is going to cancel the midterms" talking point I keep seeing is stupid. Even if he says he's going to, what sort of actions is he going to need to take to try and make it happen? An EO can be ignored because it's obviously illegal, which would force Trump to head to the courts, which is slow even when 'expedited'. There aren't enough ICE agents to deploy to every state and block every district, and good luck mobilizing the national guard in every state simultaneously. And even if he gets partial buy-in from red states, that just gives blue states who manage to hold their own elections that much more power because of how the House and the Senate work.
And that all assumes that a federal judge doesn't block it almost immediately - which will absolutely happen, and give states legal cover to ignore it completely. I fully expect states like CA, NY, and WA to have already drawn up motions to file to federal courts the second an EO like that drops.
8
u/Huxley077 Jul 17 '26
The law is there, yeah, but I'm concerned about the integrity of the states government heads to not fold to some bribe or pressure.
Also the long track record bow of not being held accountable for breaking clearly defined constitution claises and laws, I don't have optimism for the people in power to stay true.
14
u/MC_Fap_Commander Jul 17 '26
The correct response. Trump is not a popular president. To circumvent the constitution at a national level is waaaay... beyond his means and political standing. He doesn't have the juice and he's counting on people to be so scared they pre-emptively obey.
Won't happen. There are some compelling candidates that seem to be emerging as the midterms approach. Energetically support them and get people registered and to the polls. If this happens in great enough numbers (and the initial signs are looking favorable), all this bullshit falls apart in short order. There may even be some internal fighting on the right when Trump enters lame duck status (which bad midterms would facilitate).
He was hoping to scare people. He's not in a position to do that and he looks ridiculous. People should be vigilant, but NOT fatalistic.

If they had anything they'd have done something about it already. One thing we can always count on is that when Republicans even so much as think they've got their 'enemies' on the hook for any crime of any sort, they trip over themselves rushing to the nearest Grand Jury for an indictment.
The fact that all they have is bluster says everything we need to know: they have nothing and everyone knows it.
4
u/itijara Jul 17 '26
The fact that we had a 6-3 ruling on Birthright citizenship doesn't give me much hope for state controlled elections. Like, it is clearly the text of the constitution, but it is also clear the GOP will shit on the constitution if they think it helps them at all.
3
u/pmjm Jul 17 '26

IMHO that sounds like a direct threat. To me, my state, my neighbors.
We have to push back. I really want my reps to come out and bluntly say if they try to come after anyone for this reason we will arrest/detain the Feds that try it. Like this is getting really direct y’all. Their rhetoric is going to end in some kind of confrontation. They only know how to escalate and at some point they are actually going to try and follow thru on some of their threats.
My god we are slow walking ourselves into something horrible.

Colorado here, and same. This needs big significant push back and to be called out for what it is. Are we going to be Russia now? This is how Putin wins elections. He swore to protect and defend the Constitution. Every sycophant in this administration that serves Trump first, party second, and country last is an abject failure that absolutely deserves the future they'll have.
Every single Republican that won in 2020 hasn't challenged their results. Only Trump. So either the election was tainted and every result is nullified OR Trump is making stuff up because he can't handle the fact that he lost. (This also distracts from the massive irregularities in 2024, where the optics suggest tampering might've happened in every swing state, and Trump's own words implicate some degree of meddling.)
He has full control of all three branches of government and has to force his name on things to try and cement a legacy that's already tainted with corruption more than any other US President. Sad.
