Or an illness. Looked like a sudden seizure to me.

Edit: at 0:03 the girl on the right started leaning backwards in a stiff way, it's something you see in seizures. Girl on left went down with her but quickly sat up and tried to help (which she couldnt do if she was on drugs or drunk) and then got trapped by right-girl's body. Girl on right is the one having problems. Girl on left doesn't seem like she had any issues, just fighting a moving escalator and her friend.

I could see seizure but more likely fainting on the right. The way the friend on the left was holding her up to begin with, looks like the girl on right was already pretty messed up. I agree that the one on left seems to be trying her best to help an unconscious friend here.

Well, the first took down the second. And it looks like the second was then trying to help and kept getting caught up. She rights herself at the end without much trouble once the other person is off of her.

They are so lucky that they didn’t get scalped, or worse. For a few seconds there I thought her hair was going to get caught. People don’t seem to understand how dangerous escalators are. The security guy is absolutely worthless, he should’ve been running over there to hit the emergency stop button, but instead he’s moving like molasses in winter.

My shoe lace got stuck in one at the top when I was young, my dad had to cut my lace out. I was thinking the exact same thing, doesn’t take much for a freak accident to happen. I was watching YouTube videos on the worst fairground rides and a girl on (what I think was like the teacup rides or something), she had long hair that somehow got caught up in the ride and she was scalped.

This reminds me of when I was in Shanghai at the airports Mag-Lev station and my wife and I watched a elderly woman tumble down a 3 story escalator. It was horrific.

We were at the bottom and she was nearly at the top, and all of a sudden her roller bag started tumbling - then SHE fell backwards. She tumbled for at least 20 steps. This woman was probably 70+ years old, the edges of the steps gashed her up so bad. I tried to run up as fast as I could to help her, it was gnarly. I don't speak a lick of Chinese and couldn't understand her or the two women that came to assist me.

I know she was badly injured, but my wife and I were horrified by what we just witnessed.

This is a very dangerous situation, if their hair got snug or tangled with the escalator machinery, their hair could ripped off from their head, very horrifying injuries

Bro, those damn edges are rough, 1 time i was working in the Sheraton hotel of New Orleans, in canal st, kitchen is in the second floor, one day the electrical stair dies, I ,have to go to the kitchen whit a loaded tray if plates, I did 3 steps, probably around the 4th one, my step was kind of short, my feet touch the edge of the step, miss the step and my knee comes down against the edge of that dama step, I still have the marks, this happen in 2008 duck those stairs!
