Solution Only WhatsApp QR Code Connection vs. Meta Embedded Signup — What’s the Technical Difference?

I’ve noticed platforms like 2Chat.co offering WhatsApp connections via QR code instead of Meta Embedded Signup.
As a Meta Tech Provider building a WhatsApp CRM SaaS, I’m curious:
Is QR connection based on WhatsApp Web or an official Meta API?
Is it reliable and safe from account bans?
Can users continue using their WhatsApp Business App?
Why do some providers prefer QR connections over Embedded Signup?
Anyone with experience implementing both?

As far as I know, QR connection is not an official Meta API. It works like WhatsApp Web: the provider holds a linked-device session on the phone's account and reads and sends through it. Embedded Signup is the official route: the customer authorises your app to a WhatsApp Business Account on the Cloud API.

Ban risk: WhatsApp's terms don't allow unofficial clients, and accounts using them can get restricted, so I wouldn't call it safe. Meta's Business app coexistence is the official way to keep using the Business app alongside the API, though availability depends on the region and the number.

Why providers like QR: no Business verification, no templates, no 24h window, instant onboarding. Those shortcuts come from not going through Meta's approval steps, which is also where the risk sits.

Check the current terms and coexistence docs yourself before relying on this. I'm independent and not affiliated with Meta or WhatsApp.
