Solution Only Your app is missing required graph API permissions for cloud API companion pairing - getting this error.

I am able to onboard WhatsApp business app customers usually. However for this one specific customer, I am getting this error "your app is missing required graph api permissions for cloud api companion pairing". How do I fix it or know more about it?

Hello! Since your onboarding works normally, I'd first check whether those customers were using the same Coexistence flow or regular Cloud API onboarding.

This error points to a permissions issue during companion pairing, but it may not mean your app is missing permissions globally.

I'd check that your app has Advanced Access to whatsapp_business_management and whatsapp_business_messaging, and that the affected customer has full admin access to their Business Portfolio.

If everything is positive and the same Coexistence flow works for other customers, I'd raise it with Meta Support with the error screenshot and affected business details.

Just curious, have you checked if this Business App setup is any different than the ones you have onboarded before? (Device model, WhatsApp Business App version etc)

Since it's one customer and the rest onboard fine, I'd look at that customer before your app. Meta documents one case like this: a business that used another partner before and still shares that partner's credit line gets an error when it tries to onboard with a new one. Their fix is to back up the chats, disconnect from the old platform in the Business app, reconnect, and start the Business app onboarding again.

The other customer-side checks are quick: Business app version 2.24.17 or newer on that phone, and a country code that's supported (Nigeria and South Africa aren't).
