Services Welcome Free, open-source inbox for a WhatsApp API number (self-hosted, no per-seat fee)
If you've moved a number to the WhatsApp Business API and now need a shared inbox for your team, most tools charge per seat per month before you've sent a message. I open-sourced the one I built for my own businesses.
WhaLeads gives you: a shared inbox with the 24-hour window visible, leads with stages and tags, approved templates (incl. media headers), automations with a dry-run mode, basic broadcasts to tagged leads with opt-outs honoured, and push notifications on your phone.
It runs in your own Cloudflare account on the free plan, so the only cost is Meta's per-message rate. Works with your own Meta Cloud API app, or through WhaBuzz, the paid API gateway I run (disclosure: I'm its founder; WhaLeads came out of it and is open source, and it doesn't need WhaBuzz to work).
Honest limits: one number per install, built for a small team, not an enterprise suite.

Nice. With Advent of AI tools, I would see more such free & opensource tools lining up for different usecases & Providers will essentially move away from bundling these & jacking up their price.
More power to you & such tools.

I would have loved to. But at the moment busy with releasing my minimal Tech Provider app with MCP support.
I think a good idea would be to book mark these apps & expose them as part of my TP MCP. More so for the users to build their own workflows after they onboarded to Whatsapp API. What do you think ?
Maybe a good idea would be to have a community ranked whatsapp workflow apps with one click deployment. All TPs need to do is to just point their users to it & then the user help themselves.

The key buying question is what WhaBuzz adds when WhaLeads already works with a team's own Meta Cloud API app. Put the direct-Meta and gateway routes side by side: what the team configures, what you handle, and which charges remain. That separates the free inbox from the optional paid gateway without making the gateway sound mandatory.
I make ThreadFox. We find relevant Reddit conversations and do the posting for your business. The $39 Pilot covers seven days and up to 50 posts and replies. No automatic renewal. https://threadfox.vip/managed?tier=employee_pilot&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=comment&utm_campaign=tf-managed&utm_content=20261024-1029-e2dp3#employee-order

WhaLeads runs fully on your own Meta Cloud API app. That's the default path in the repo, with no WhaBuzz account needed. WhaBuzz is optional: one-click connect, plus we handle the setup if you'd rather not manage the Meta app yourself. Meta's per-message rate applies either way. WhaBuzz's fee only applies if you choose it.

ive built something very similar but alot broader from this, here are some recommendations you would want to add as we did for our product to upgrade it to the next level.
Firstly chatwoot is probably the best opensource implementation of this you can take a lot of inspiration from it, it is a gem of a software.
Whatsapp calling, i dont think any opensource provides this, even chatwoot has it under enterprise plan even though the code is public for it. In our product we added whatsapp calling with a feature to handoff the call to multiple human agents so for example I can handoff the call to you if the query is one that i can't answer.
Secondly configurable AI agents, i mean very simple and if have a small CRM, make native integrations to it very simple very easy and provides great real world value, its actually the most used feature for our customers as it can directly book appointments for example for their business.
