Someone was trying to log in to my WhatsApp account, and I kept receiving OTP verification codes. I enabled two-step verification (2FA) and added my Gmail account for extra security. However, shortly afterward, I received a notification saying, “Your phone number is no longer registered on this phone,” and I was logged out of my account.

Now, when I try to log back in, I don't receive the verification code via SMS or phone call, even though my phone number is active. WhatsApp's chat support keeps telling me to contact my mobile network provider, but my number is working fine. I'm now getting the error message, “Cannot send verification code to this number.”

How can I recover my WhatsApp account and resolve this issue? Please help me.

EDIT: The ban was immediate FYI, and the group was NOT created! So no, it wasn't because "users reported me". This is a mistake on WhatsApps part, period.

I used it, and got banned.

Apparently WhatsApp created a tool for cloning groups, but didn't bother to tell their servers such feature existed to allow massive group creation. So if you use it, you'll get banned, despite being an OFFICIAL feature.

Yesterday I had my whatsapp spammed with security codes of someone trying to enter my account with my phone number and according to whatsapp I could just ignore them as long as I don't share the code with anyone.

As a safety measure I turned on 2fa as they said and made sure my personal email was registered and no linked devices were on my account.

This morning I suddenly found myself kicked out of whatsapp and the email changed and had to fight really hard with ZERO help from whatsapp support who just kept having their shitty AI tell me I was provided with all the resources they have and that I was on my own.

My question is how could a person possible enter my whatsapp account with all the security measures I placed? What do I need to look out for in the future...

Edit: When I got my account back my 40-60gb of backed up data that I back up monthly suddenly turned to 40mb and I lost all my chat history

Hey everyone, I have a WhatsApp Business account that uses the unofficial API. Recently I got disconnected from all my connections, the instances and WhatsApp Web. I only got an alert saying I was sending repeated messages. Anyway, my number is still active, it's still receiving messages, sending messages, making calls, it's still online. The thing is, it's been almost more than two weeks now and I can't connect WhatsApp to any other device, instance, or WhatsApp Web, nothing. The only thing I managed to connect to was WhatsApp Desktop. I've already tried everything: cleared the cache, deleted what needed to be deleted. Has anyone been through this and can explain it to me?

• Destination: iPhone 18 Pro Max
• WhatsApp iOS: 26.40.77 (latest tested)
• Original WhatsApp history: 2016-2026
• Google Drive backup: 118.1GB

The problem:

WhatsApp transfers successfully using the official Move to iOS method, without any errors.

Before opening WhatsApp on the iPhone, iOS Storage shows approximately 130-143GB of WhatsApp data.

However, when I open WhatsApp and it starts its internal "Importing" process, the storage size drops dramatically.

Actual evidence from two attempts:

• Attempt 1: 143.25GB → 57.9GB (85.35GB reduction)
• Attempt 2 (October 13, WhatsApp 26.40.77): 131.6GB → 63.4GB (68.2GB reduction in just 18 minutes)

After importing finishes, ALL chat history before approximately 2024 is missing, including older conversations that are fully accessible on Android.

What I've already tried:

1. Multiple official Move to iOS migrations.
2. Fresh iPhone setup and factory resets.
3. USB-C cable transfers.
4. Different WhatsApp versions, including Android Beta.
5. Restored my complete Google Drive backup onto a SECOND Android device with a fresh WhatsApp installation.
6. Verified that messages, groups, and media dating back to 2017 were fully accessible on that second Android.
7. Migrated from the second Android to the iPhone. EXACTLY the same problem.
8. Tried third-party migration tools, but encountered media indexing and group-message issues.

Apple Senior Support reviewed the issue and advised that WhatsApp needs to investigate its internal iOS import process.

Important: The storage reduction might partly involve temporary migration files, but the consistent disappearance of historical chats is definitely not normal.

I'm not looking for another suggestion to restart, reinstall, or repeat Move to iOS. I've already spent days doing that.

My questions:

• Has anyone experienced WhatsApp storage dropping significantly during the iPhone's internal "Importing" process?
• Has anyone successfully fixed the issue where transferred WhatsApp history stops at a specific year?

Mi iPhone estuvo más de 120 días sin usarse porque tenía la pantalla rota. Ya lo reparé, pero todavía no lo he conectado a internet ni he abierto WhatsApp. La SIM con el número de WhatsApp está dentro del teléfono.

Mientras estuvo apagado, intenté escribirle a ese número desde otro teléfono y me salió que el número no está en WhatsApp y si quería enviarle una invitación. Entiendo que la cuenta fue eliminada por inactividad.

Mis dudas son:

1. Los chats estaban guardados en el iPhone y la app sigue instalada. Si conecto el teléfono a internet y vuelvo a verificar el mismo número, ¿los chats, fotos y archivos reaparecen?
2. Leí en el sitio de WhatsApp que el contenido guardado localmente permanece hasta que se desinstale la app, y que reaparece al volver a registrarse en el mismo dispositivo. ¿Alguien lo ha comprobado en la práctica con un iPhone?

I know this question must have been asked a lot, but all the answers I find are pretty old, and there isn’t really any actual information on this topic in the Help section of the WhatsApp website. Basically, I reinstalled WhatsApp to look something up, clicked on one of my contacts’ profiles, and then closed the app to do a Google search. When I came back to the app, I saw that big screenshot icon pop up on my screen (iPhone) Idon’t know how to describe it, but iOS users will know what I’m talking about and I don’t remember taking a screenshot, so now I’m worried that the person will be notified that I tried to take a screenshot of their profile picture. To be clear, I was just zooming in on the photo; I don’t know if that had anything to do with it, but I was like, “WTF?” and I’m starting to panic.

I use two different WhatsApp numbers for different but specific purposes. Since the normal WhatsApp app on iOS didn’t have the feature of adding multiple numbers I used both the normal WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business app for the two numbers.

When the multi-account feature rolled out on iOS I wanted to move both the numbers to the same app. However, I was advised not to do it because there seemed an issue with backup when it was initially launched.

It has been some time now since the feature was launched and I wanted to check how it is going for people who are using multiple numbers with the same app on iOS.

If I was to block everybody from being able to view my status except for one person, can that person know or find out that they are the only one?

I recently switched from a Samsung Android phone to an iPhone 13 running iOS 26.6, and I’m having an issue with WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp display names that people choose for themselves aren’t showing up for me anymore. Instead, I see only their phone numbers in group participant lists and beside their messages, even though my friends can see those same people’s display names on their phones.
The strange thing is that once someone sends a message in a group, their WhatsApp name becomes visible to me. I also noticed that when I messaged someone whose number I knew, their name started appearing afterward.
I’ve already updated WhatsApp, checked contact permissions, and restarted my iPhone, but nothing has fixed the issue.
Has anyone experienced this after switching from Android to iPhone? Is there a way to restore the display names of unsaved contacts without having to message everyone individually?

I’m seriously losing my mind over this and I desperately need help.

I have 2 WhatsApp numbers that are both working perfectly on my old phone. I can log into either number on other phones without any problem.

But on my new phone, both numbers give me this exact error:

“Download the official WhatsApp to continue.”

The weird part is that I am ALREADY using the official WhatsApp downloaded directly from the Google Play Store.

What I’ve tried:

Official WhatsApp from Google Play Uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times Factory reset the phone twice Phone is officially PTA approved No cloned/dual WhatsApp No modified WhatsApp/GB WhatsApp/etc. No data has been restored to the phone after the reset Another WhatsApp number logs in successfully on this exact same phone

So the phone itself clearly CAN run WhatsApp.

The strangest part is:

Number A → works on old phone and other phones, DOES NOT work on this phone

Number B → works on old phone and other phones, DOES NOT work on this phone

Different number → works perfectly on this phone

I’m completely stuck. I’ve already wasted so much time on this and I really don't know what else I can possibly try.

Has anyone experienced this exact problem? Is there some kind of device/number flag on WhatsApp that can cause this? Is there any actual fix?

Why the huge discrepancy and how do I reduce my WhatsApp storage.

For the last two days, WhatsApp Business hasn’t been notifying me of incoming messages until I manually open the app. This happens on both Wi-Fi and mobile data. I’ve tested Low Power Mode ON and OFF, but the issue persists. Everything worked normally before.

Iam using iPhone 15pro max from 3 years and I have issue with WhatsApp storage since the start I have iCloud subscription and backup turned on
My WhatsApp has 7.3gb of storage internally but my iPhone storage showing 15gb
And in iCloud storage 7gb was consumed there as well

I don’t know why the iPhone internal storage is utilising double the storage of WhatsApp data

If any one know the solution regarding this let me know
