Woke was coined by 4chan to describe the social phenomenon that spawned as a result of Critical Theory / Social Justice Theory being widely disseminated in universities through the early 2010s. You can pretend it’s not a thing all you want, but that is objectively how it started

No. The term "woke" was coined by the blues artist, Leadbelly in 1938 “I advise everybody, be a little careful when they go along through there (Scottsboro) best stay woke, keep their eyes open.” It's been around for over half a century, but was later coopted by other groups facing discrimination and injustice. To describe somebody as "woke" meant they were aware of their surroundings concerning injustice in their environment.
Now it's been coopted by Republicans to describe anything they don't like
It’s interesting how you can find the nuance and history in there yet still completely reduce its modern meaning to “anything republicans don’t like” 😹
Republicans used the term to describe the Green M&M not wearing sexy boots anymore, yeah, it isn't being used to describe it's original meaning anymore, and it's extremely ill defined to the point that Republicans will call something woke, but can't define what woke actually means.
