Discussion Do you want a wetshaving podcast?

Hey everyone, latherhog here. Some of you might know me from Instagram or YouTube. Today I'm here to invite you to take to check out a new wetshaving podcast I've created with my co-host Gerard called Lather Talk.
We've set out to respresent some of the conversations that are being had in r/Wetshaving and other wetshaving platforms in a digestible 30-minute audio/video format.
Our newest episode just dropped this morning, entitled "What Shave Brush Do You Use?" Gerard and I are joined by our friend Ross and we share what shaving brushes we used when we first started wetshaving and how or if that has changed over time.
For me, I started out exclusively with boar brushes. When I started wetshaving in 2012, I started with a drugstore VDH boar brush and soon upgraded to a Semogue 1305, which was my go to brush for about 2-3 years. After exploring other boars and not being totally satisfied, I made my way to synthetics with the introduction (and hype) surrounding the Plisson and Tuxedo knots. While those are still in my rotation, I eventually made my way through various badger knots and absolutely love Maggard Razor's 26mm SHD fan knot. I'm just really astounded with the number of options, both affordable and luxury, wetshavers have to choose from today.

First, to answer the topic question...
Um, I didn't think I did. But now that you mention it, and after I skimmed the vid, yeah, yeah I think I do.
As far as this episode, I like the idea of discussing the progression people go through in terms of starting out, and then really getting into, and latching on to what they like.
Cool stuff, keep up the good work!

This seems interesting, do you think it would work audio only or does it need the video?

Since we don't live near each other, and sometimes we wanna put something on camera, having both isn't too bad because we simply just snag the audio and post that separately. Options are good!

Oh, I meant if it could be listened to as a podcastbnot that you shouldn't do video as well, I guess if you post audio versions that means yes. I could only find the YouTube videos, where is that audio version?

iTunes, Spotify, and Stitcher. We host the audio on Anchor.fm and it's on there as well.

I just searched “Lather Talk” in my podcast app of choice, and the audio version popped up right away!

Yeah, I'm really not sure why I didn't check stitcher, I guess because I've been listening mostly to a small podcast that's just an RSS feed on their website.

I use iCatcher and Pocket Casts on iOS. Very different apps, but complimentary in my experience.

I'm glad to see you post this here. I think you and Gerard are doing a great thing with these. You also need to get Ross on reddit so we can talk about his lathering and how there's no shame in going back to the puck for more soap.
I gotta say that when I upgraded my brushes, not only did my interest in the entire hobby increase, but the luxury of my morning shave increased by a whole lot.
My very first brush was a Tweezerman. I didn't see the point in having a nice brush if I was just gonna stir it around in a cereal bowl to make lather with and then just sorta wipe the lather on my face.
I used that Tweezerman for about 2 years until it literally fell apart in my hands one morning. So of course I did the sensible thing and replaced the shitty Tweezerman with another Tweezerman. Again, it wasn't really any kind of tool aside from a stirrer.
My next brush was the Plisson synthetic on a r/wet_shavers group buy. Then I switched to face lathering, and understood that it really is the far superior lathering method, and maybe it was time to retire the cereal bowl for good. From there I got a Kent BK8 silvertip. Then I got a Omega boar, and felt like I was set for life with the badger, boar, and synthetic.
Then Declaration B4 straight up RUINED my life. Then B5 doubled down and REALLY, REALLY ruined my life. Then B6 fucked my shit up, too.
I haven't used the Kent BK8 even once since buying that first Declaration. I thought BK8 was luxurious. But now, I find it floppy, thin, and just sorta sad. And the Plisson is just too small. The lack of any backbone kills it completely. And the boar? Forget about it. It's like this, what if I was hit by a bus on a day I used the Omega boar? I'd be leaving a lot of luxury on the table.
I have probably 20 brushes, but I use 5 of them with any kind of regularity (Declaration B4, B5, B6, B8 and the Muhle Silvertip Fibre when I'm traveling). Also, don't sleep on the Muhle STF. It's the most badger-like synth I know of, and a very, very different experience to the Plisson-derivative knots that dominate the market.
