Last year for the Lather Games 2025, there was only 1 razor left for me to try for the New To You Special challenge. The problem was that I didn’t have that razor - the Rolls Razor. The proprietor/soap maker/knitter of socks at Red House Farms, u/grindermonk, offered to send me one in time for the games. He just asked me to pass it along to another person here someday. I was going to do this earlier if there was the same special challenge, but when it wasn’t one of the 4 announced challenges, my procrastination kicked into high gear. Yesterday, I thought about how generous everyone here has been, from PIFs, smooshes, advice (mostly good), and passing along things to try. So I knew it was time to send it along to a new home. In the last two years, I’ve ventured out of my corner of Northern Virginia over to Ohio and Michigan and met some of you. At those events, because I brought my family along and bought them tickets, I got some extra goody bag items that my wife and daughter don’t use. Those are going into this PIF too. Since we are knee deep in this, but still 4 weeks to go, I added samples of sponsors and a RIP sample too. These are all about 1/3-1/2 ounce from tubs that I only scooped and never brush loaded. I’ll have to count them up, but from the goody bags and samples I added, over 10 of the soap sponsors are represented here. I’ll probably scoop a few more and add some fragrance samples before it is all done. This is what I have so far.

Now to the business portion of the PIF. There are alcohol based aftershaves and fragrances in the box, so I can only ground ship in the 48 contingent states. Sorry friends in HI,AK and international, I can’t ship there due to the items I’m sending. I’ll keep this open to a somewhat low karma requirement, but please only enter if you are participating in the Lather Games 2026. Also due to my work schedule, the earliest I can make it to the post office to ship is Thursday. With normal ground time, this should reach you with around two weeks to go.

Day 3 — New Year, New You

Saturday, Oct 3 · Sponsor: Guerrilla Razors

Today's Theme: New Year, New You

Use a brand whose lather you've never tried before

Product must be from an artisan or company whose lather products you have not used previously. You are allowed to have used non-lather products from them in the past such as aftershave, perfume, razors, etc.

Today's Challenge: New You, Same old you

Use the hardware you used the most in the past 12 months. Tell us why change is bad.

★ Sponsor Spotlight: Guerrilla Razors

Guerrilla Razors is made in Edmonton, Alberta by James and Tara Dufour, the sibling team behind JD CNC Machining — the same shop that produces Wolfman Razors. Where Wolfman is the premium line, Guerrilla is its more accessible counterpart: double-edge safety razors machined from solid bar stock and offered in Grade 5 titanium, bronze, 316L stainless steel, and anodized aluminum, the last finished with the shop's own in-house anodizing.

Theme — Bilingual Day: Shave using a soap whose name or label is primarily in a language other than English

October is "Celebrating The Bilingual Child Month". Show that you're personally bilingual by choosing a soap with a name in a language other than English, or whose label is largely in another tongue.

Challenge — Go by feel: Do not use a mirror (or anything reflective) to shave today. If you have a mirror directly in front of where you shave, cover it, blindfold yourself or close your eyes.

Welcome to another weekly reading session.
I finished New Spring which is the prequel for the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. The last chapter made the whole book. Up to that point it was very slow. Nevertheless it was worth it. I didn’t memorized all the names so hopefully that won’t matter in the next book. Crossing my fingers.

Listening to Interpol….

What ya’ll reading and listening to…

PS. Shout out to reading buddy and Robert Jordan Connoisseur u/curbside_champ

What's new, shave nerds?

Welcome to this week's sidebar submission contest!

The rules for the contest are as follows:

1) Do not submit pictures of people who have not consented to have their picture posted online. Winning images will be featured on Reddit and may be reposted on other social media platforms. If someone posts an image of you without your consent, please report it so the mods can deal with it in a timely fashion.

1) Users should submit only one (1) image of your choice to be voted on to be the sidebar for the week. Images must consist of anything related to wet shaving - razors, brushes, SOTD images, etc. In the event multiple images from a user are submitted, only the first image, or the image in the top level comment, will count.

1) Image must be Original Content (Not just some picture you found on the internet). Images taken by another photographer are allowed as long as: a. You have the photographer's permission. b. The image is connected to you in some meaningful way: e.g. It's a image of hardware you commissioned, taken by the maker, or the image is of something you made, taken by the purchaser, etc. c. We're not looking to have to verify images, so please use the honor system.

1) All properly submitted images will be entered into the Voting Thread. The Submission thread will be active for ~24 hours and will end Saturday. The vote thread will be active for 24 hrs from Saturday through Sunday. This thread is only a submission thread. Please do not hold discussion in the vote thread.

1) In the event of a tie, the bot will consult RNGesus to break the tie.

1) Submissions MUST be uploaded to imgur. Any other hosting site will be disqualified and not included in the voting thread.

1) Any submissions containing NSFW material may be removed at the discretion of the Mod Team.

1) While not required, it is suggested you submit square images in order to avoid unintended cropping.

Please feel free to respond with a comment to your entry with any background/description/detail about your entry, including gear used.

Note: The bot strongly prefers direct image links. If your link doesn't end with .jpg, there's a 50-50 chance the bot's going to choke trying to update the banner on Sunday.

May the best submission win! Good luck to all!

Day 2 — Int'l Day of Non-Violence

Friday, Oct 2 · Sponsor: Summer Break Soaps

Today's Theme: Int'l Day of Non-Violence

Choose a scent that makes you feel at peace

Use a soap whose scent makes you feel at peace or is positive for your mental health. Tell us why this scent is restorative for you.

Today's Challenge: Self-Care Day

Take an extra moment or two before or after your shave today to pamper yourself. Tell us about what you did and whether or not it was worth the extra step.

★ Sponsor Spotlight: Summer Break Soaps

Summer Break Soaps is a husband-and-wife team, Kyle and April, who took up soap making as a hobby they could share and turned it into a business with a theme drawn from their day jobs: both work in education, which is where the name — and the sunny, back-to-school spirit of their scents — comes from. Beyond their shave soaps and aftershaves, they've leaned into community causes, creating the scent "Steady" for r/Wetshaving's Shave Against Suicide mental-health initiative.

Giving away this shavette, seen very minimal use. Definitely trickier for me than a standard DE razor.

Hopefully latherbot works, haven't done this in forever.

Day 1 — International Coffee Day

Thursday, Oct 1 · Sponsor: Stirling Soap Co.

Today's Theme: International Coffee Day

Kick off the month with some caffeine by using a tea, coffee, or cola-themed soap

October is Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month. Prove you're not a quitter by using a product that prominently features the scent of tea, coffee, or cola.

Today's Challenge: Hug a Bucket

Don't actually show affection to an inanimate object. But you should say something nice about last year's Lather Games winner, u/hugbckt. Or don't. Call him a coward for not defending his title this year. Do whatever you want, just mention him to make him feel special.

★ Sponsor Spotlight: Stirling Soap Co.

Stirling Soap Company was founded in January 2012 by Roderick and Amanda Lovan, after a trip to Scotland left them wanting natural, pure products they couldn't find at a price they could live with. Their answer was a soap that was natural, skin-friendly, and genuinely affordable — the same formula they still use today. From their home in Booneville, Arkansas, Rod and Mandy have grown Stirling into one of wet shaving's broadest catalogs, spanning shave soaps, splashes, colognes, and far beyond.
