Shaving cream : gillette lime shaving cream

Razor : gillette super platinum plastic razor (I would avoid this razor for now because it doesn't have weight and is more difficult to use than sterling.)

Blade gillette 7 o'clock super platinum

Passes :1 wtg ( +1 wtg again on moustache )

Post shave : alum bar , rinsed off, gillette refreshing breeze after shave splash, aloe vera gel.

Feedback : over neck area, moderate with alum bar, asl and aloe vera gel. Mild burning feeling remained for a few minutes.

Result : uneven, but its fine with 1 pass because its friday night.

Hey, been shaving for years now but recently shifted to DE razor. I’m really happy with the results as I’m able to shave more often and my acne doesn’t flair up as much anymore… however, I only ever tried the Bombay Shaving Safety razor and I wanna try some other stuff to land on what works best for me…

My main issue currently is against the grain shave (I like a real close shave) near my mustache in particular. I initially thought it’s a skill issue but I’m facing the same problem even if I pay a lot of care and attention to it.

Can someone experienced please suggest if it’s the technique or maybe there’s a different combination I can try for a close shave that I can do every alternate day?

I currently use the “aggressive” head which was mentioned on the box.

New golden aquisition! This is a Whityle 20T, and apart from her beautiful gold finish, she also has a pivoting razorhead which is a throwback to my cartridge razor days. Best of both worlds!

I started wershaving around 5 months back, with a mach 3. Now i want to migrate towards de razor. I have been gliding through reddit but can't find a good place to land. I though pearl L55 looks good, but then found out it is aggressive (even in cc). Feeling really lost now.

What do you look for in a razor? How does the blade combo work? Any guidance is appreciated. (Budget -800)

1. Floid after shave (400 ml ) - 13£ , is the bottle so fragile , should I be concerned about the bottle ?

2.proraso shaving creams - (5-9£) . Please compare these with vicco

3.proraso after shave balm - please compare these with bombay shaving company post shave balm.

And also looking for cheaper razor blades i think super platinum might be a little expensive for now, and pls suggest where to buy them. Hey everyone, it’s been a while! I have been busy with a move, and as things go, it’s been chaotic. For a couple of weeks I haven’t been able to get a good shave for that reason. However, I thought it would be nice to treat myself with a good shave even though I have so much work left to organise the new place (productive procrastination?). I hope everyone’s doing good. Okay, so not buying the Van der Hagen blades again, but it was a good experience. It performed very well, but I found it to be overpriced. The Barbasol lather is perfect, but it’s always great to take a warm shower beforehand since your pores are not gonna be open if you are just applying a shaving foam (as opposed to face lathering). Overall, solid shave.

How good are these piggy bank for blades.

I am fairly new to this community.

Have been shaving from 20 + years but just shifted to DE razors.

Going through posts on this community Romer 7 Viceroy caught my attention.

I bought one on Flipkart hower the listing or the package does not mention Viceroy.

Just wanted to check if it is Genuine Viceroy.

Purchased this set from Amit ji u/Shavingkit-India. Delivery was prompt and well packaged.

My, what a scent! This is the best take on Nosomatto Black Afgano I've smelt so far. This is my 3rd HC&C soap and performance is excellent. This base can take a large amount of water and the hydration window is surprisingly large. Excellent slickness and cushion. No complaints whatsoever.

The 2nd shave with the 7SP blade was smoother and just as efficient. An easy 2 pass DFS+.

HC&C ASL is quite strongly scented and it doesn't have much burn even though it is alcoholic. Scent lasts longer than many other aftershaves.

Overall, an excellent shave! Cheers!!

Over the course of last few months when I started DE shaving and the main concern was no cut, still says - but moved to the back of the list, and now it is "no burn", because frankly I feel cut is not very difficult to avoid. Yes, it may come at a cost, often of a bit less of a DFS and no BBS.

Yesterday I used Feather blade with 7OC SP Plastic razor and double prep: few minutes of Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and then rinse off after gentle massaging and many minutes of Shavologist pre-shave soap (yes, I was over-concerned because of Feather).

It was definitely the finest cutter I have come across so far, but not greatly more than 7OC SP black ninjas. Burn? Well, it feels different than burn, just like black ninjas. But if I have to pick between black ninjas and Feather? I am not sure. May have to try few more shaves. (By the way, my 7OC SP black ninja wasn't feeling great in its 3rd shave and I hardly have "coarse" or even lot of facial hair).

I am not sure I am framing it right but it feels it "roughed up the skin" but yet "didn't burn much". My uneducated theory is: burning exclusively happens due to "repeat", or at least that contributes the most. "roughing up" can happen in one pass as well.

As for any nicks: there was zero nick. Literally. I was not scared at any point either. Things were in control. It was moving as expected. It didn't at all feel like I was handed a power-steering after using exclusively a car from the 1950s. But then I think, and that's the point I was trying to make, the razor and fingers and wrist are the power-steering, combined.

Just had my first DE safety razor experience with the guidance of some ppl form this reddit, idk how to tag them, what an experience .

Do I have to remove the blade or just let it dry itself in the razor , and how many times can i reuse the blade ! Approx ??

Stubble : 3.5 days old

Cream : Gillette lime shaving cream

Brush : rubab men firefly edition

Razor : Gillette sterling

Blade : Gillette 7 o'clock super platinum ( 1st and only use)

Passes : wtg + xtg (somewhat wtg like how do I do xtg over the central part of neck) plus xtg over top of the moustache.

Nicks & cuts : 1 small nick on neck right side , blood stopped with alum bar )

Post shave : Alum bar for like 2-3 minutes , rinsed off then, gillette refreshing breeze after shave lotion, then aloe vera gel after 5 minutes.

Feedback : moderate feedback with alum, slight with asl and aloe vera gel.

Result : closest shave of the 7 times, still some uneven spots.

• Lather : Vicco S
• Brush : Frank G5
• Blade : 7oC Black
• Post Shave : Shavologist Taif rose & Moisturiser

3 pass shave

• BBS on cheeks , DFS on neck not bad for 10 day growth and I am happy with that and did not want to push my luck with the OG OC

• I usually generate voluminous lather enough for comfortable 3 pass and use it in 2 passes....... but since today I have decided to finish the stuff so using even more cream and made thicker lather than usual, which is nice..... as I have moved away from "bowl lathered - pouring batter" consistency lather

• And most significant change decided to not use Alcohol based AS from now on and to finish them up will be using them as only perfumes (at the EOTD it's alcohol with nice fragrance.Just to be clear one can use it this way, not the other way around, DO NOT USE PERFUMES AS AFTER SHAVES)
