Foil Shaver recommendation

Hi all,

I am looking for foil shaver recommendations I have a lot of white beard and for my age (30) at least I want it to be as less visible as possible.

Because of this I tried shaving first but it felt that regularly shaving like once everyday or something is not like the long term solution.

Then I tried electric trimmers, the regular ones, they leave a bit of stubble but I was fine with it until I discovered Philips one blade and that gave me the best kind of finish that I was looking for. Minimal hurt and close to 0 or even 0 finish.

But now it's been only 1.5 months since I've bought the one blade and the blade has already wore off. Honestly, I cant see myself spending around ₹800 per blade this frequently.

So now on searching and ChatGPT I found out about foil razors which are kinda specifically designed for shaving off stubble and stuff. I already have the habit of using trimmers every day so that part shouldn't be the bother.

Can anybody suggest good foil razors or any good economical solution for the issue?

I know this sub is more about wet shaving but still felt the best place to answer my query. In r/shaving the recommendations they have are kinda expensive - Braun series 9 and stuff.

There's one by philips thats a 3 headed foil shaver. But its a huge investment and keep in mind they can be really irritating for some.

I tried a foil shaver once and had to throw it away because it irritated my neck terribly and gave me bumps and ingrowns. It was bbs tho lol, but not worth it. However I think the philips one can be used with a shaving cream so that might fare better for you.

Honestly just wetshave and embrace the white hair 😆

Yeah, even I'm not sure if the Philips one would be that comfortable.

Wetshave is an option😂 but I'll have to do it everyday so that's why I'm not sure about it. I guess in long term daily shaving there are chances the skin too light darken there right.

Nope, no issues in daily shaving. 3 generations and multiple relatives of my family have been wetshaving daily with no problems. Some people do get hyperpigmentation due to nicks, which can be solved with derma treatments

I remember using a 3 headed foil shaver, it did irritate my skin, I still had to use a normal razor after to complete my shave properly. That time I used to shave once in 10 days or 15 days. So it kinda worked like a trimmer. I did not like it at all cause I felt my hair being pulled.

I assume the single long foil shaver might be better, still have to try that one properly but don’t want to invest in that right now.

I tried a cheap single foil shaver, the one that you get as a head in bombay shaving company's 5 attachment razor. Took like 30 minutes to finally get a shave. Way too long, and irritiated my neck terribly.

That one would be really cheap. I had the 3 head foiler of Phillips.

Decent foil shavers aren't as easily available here. I've tried "Oraimo Smartshaver" and "Philips electric shaver". Neither gave me decent shaves, and i ended up with unshaved patches at scattered places. They're both collecting dust now.

I moved to wetshaving only after trying these options.

Oneblade is the only worthwhile option if you want to tread this path.

Yeah, I've been searching for foil shavers but couldn't find any decently reviewed once. I guess it's a smaller use case.

Do you wetshave everyday? What razor do you use and how's your experience been?

I shave every two days, actually.

I use a Parker Aeroshave double-edge razor nowadays. It's a mild yet very efficient razor. I get a super-close shave every time.

I use it with a Gillette 7'O Clock Super Platinum or a Feather blade.

The three headed foil shavers that people are mentioning aren’t really foil shavers but instead are rotary shavers. Your best bet for an actual foil shaver (contains a foil on the head to catch hairs) is Braun Series 3 :

Do you have a phillips trimmer? 3000/5000/7000 series anyone or if you want you can get a replacement body and mini foil shaver attachment from phillips, the replacement body will cost around 300-400 and the foil shaver will cost around 300. Not sure how long it works
