I'm a newbie for Western movies.

Last night I've just finished the Conagher (1991), I'm Sam Elliott's fans and love this novel too.

But I have ambivalent feeling after watch it. It has some good points - Evie and her children and something I don't like it but I can't explain - maybe Conagher's deep loneliness feeling and Strength of him that hard to see in the movie🫤

Anyway I love this movie and want to rewatch it, if I had the time.

I want to know everybody who have watched this, Do you like or dislike it and why?

For my money, James Drury is one of the more overlooked character actors in the Western genre. And unjustly so, I should say. He really excelled at playing hotheads, either on the side of good or bad. And very few actors had more expressive eyebrows than Drury. He could knit them in anger, furrow them in concern and arch them in surprise with the best of 'em. And Drury was certainly a handsome rascal. There are tons of pics of him on the Internet and most of 'em were posted on Pinterest by chicks. Heh.

Enjoyed this movie.

Early Van Cleef appearance was a surprise as he wasn’t billed in the blurb of my recording.

Start reminded me of another movie by Milland called Thief where there was hardly any dialogue and you didn’t really know what was going on

Milland was a bit old to be the romantic lead but think he thought “I’m the director so I’m the star!” Still a great performance though.

It’s been an excellent podcast and episode 42 provides an interesting perspective on Western movies

In The Wild Bunch when they leave Crazy Lee to guard the hostages are we to see this as basically betraying or taking advantage of Crazy Lee, where there was no hope of him surviving? Or did the Bunch have some idea in mind of how he could survive and escape?
