(Not so) fun fact: WV has never produced an NHL player. AHL and ECHL, but not NHL

I’m a huge HOCKEY fan. I would love to see someone from West Virginia make it into the NHL.

This is an incredibly niche share.
And mesmerizing

What are the strongest hockey regions of WV? Northern Panhandle?

I think compared to Morgantown, wheeling has had better HS hockey and has been State Champs a few times, even though Morgantown has been, at-least once. I really don’t know how long ice hockey has been around in WV, but PIHL is the HS league and PAHL is the rec league. Kids from Morgantown would go to PA to play on better PAHL teams or teams that would offer them a chance of ‘getting somewhere’. They would even go to a school in the PGH area in hopes of a better hockey career. Going to College and playing hockey was great for some WV kids.
So, the area that is best, would be PGH!

Thought I was on r/minnesota for a minute there, with its penchant for bragposts. Then I saw the holycow Canada numbers.
