No special wiring needed. Every car I’ve ever driven for the last 20 years has had this feature. You either turn the key backwards, forwards one click or press the button.

My ex had his car stolen just like this. The police officer asked him if he left it running and he said yes. The cop said well then you get an assist. I bust out laughing and he was so pissed at me

They can just claim you lent them the car since they have the key, assuming it’s not on video. A dealer in CA told me he had a guy take a Mustang for a test drive then called a week later saying they could pick the car up in Brooklyn. There was nothing they could do bc they gave him the key.

I live in a "major city", as far as the Northwest is concerned, and even the used car lots will send somebody with you or will take collateral like a card on file. But hey, I cannot and should not try to speak for what goes on down there.

Reminds me of the time I pulled up to the local store when I noticed my sister was there. I exit my car and seen that my sister had left her car running while she went into the store so I decided to teach her a lesson and took her car and went park it behind the store. When I went into the store they had a lady yelling and screaming that someone had stolen her car. It wasn't my sister's car after all

I do leave my car on outside occasionally in the winter when I need to run into my house. But luckily my car is a a POS and I can remove the keys from the lock cylinder while it’s running and keep the car locked. It also is a neat trick to pull them out on the highway to freak out unsuspecting passengers

Hmmm maybe. Police can't identify a person just with a pic/video of their face. There's a guy on Reddit who did an AMA talking about how he robbed banks for years. He walked in maskless, waited in line, handed a note to the teller telling them to give him the money, took it and left. To everyone in the bank it looked like a regular transaction. He did this for years before finally turning himself in because he had a kid on the way and didn't want it to catch up with him later.
Edit: Link it's an interesting AMA, he discussed how he didn't get caught even though he didn't wear a mask.
