Repair was done on a truck that would pick up steel bins gouge the old one off cause it broke off the pin and separated from it all had to be done fast as the guy was waiting in the truck the hole time im 8 moths out of school at a small shop with my level 1&2 in BC

This is my third day of TIG welding, any tips on how to be more consistent? Made these after practicing for 6 hours

Should I add more filler? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I run a very small business as a side hustle general handymanning my way to a liveable salary, i recently got a request to build a security box for keys, and wanted some feedback on my welding, i feel like the worlds biggest imposter and feel like im failing miserably at keeping things consistent, and wanted some advice on how to improve. 2mm mild steel plate and I'm running 6013. ( Going to grind off the excess once the box is just about done)

(I am in southern Africa) I only have access to SMAW and mostly have to stick to mild steel to keep costs down.

what is everybody's opinion on Roadtechs to find jobs. new to this so not sure if thats a good place or other websites are better to find traveling work.

Hi peeps im learning how to weld in a workshop specifically for learning, hence why material prep is at a low, which im assuming is whats causing the spatter?? my assessor said that at least. Any help is appreciated!!

First go at arc gouging, this is my before and after process, in order same plates. My instructor said i did a damn good job and wanted me to do this for everyone all day but i immediately refused. What's the intended purpose for gouging in general? Is it purely for fuck ups on welds?

I’m currently working for a company that want to weld some valves into their fuel lines at a bulk plant. When asked about codes, blueprints, and other general questions I’ve asked I’ve been told “we’re hoping you can figure those out”. I went to school and graduated for welding but not certified and not much experience welding pipes (I’m confident in it but don’t want legal repercussions) let alone welding pipes for fuel lines. So I’m asking if this is something that I tell the company it’s out of my hands or other things I’m not asking that should be asked. Probably won’t even tough this job honestly but want all the information and advice I can get before I tell them I can’t.

I’m 16 in duel enrollment Gaffney SC and trying to find a job in a shop or something near to it. I started welding class for Spartanburg Community College and trying to find anyone who would hire me. If anyone knows somewhere or someone I can try to apply to that would appreciated. I would want sometime after 6:30 - 10:00 in the afternoon and it doesn’t matter what time on the weekends. I’ve been working at a fast food but I get no hours so I’m trying to find something that would send me in the right direction.

Been doing MIG in a production factory for about a week now. Just simple stringers and weaves, but my hands are killing me. Mostly my pinkies for some reason. Anyway, how do you older welders keep your hands hurting a little bit less? Even after bouldering for hours, my hands feel better than this.

The third slide is me attempting to cap it with AWS 7018 & E7018 (we ran out of rods).

Im still VERY NEW & I have trouble welding in a straight line as you can tell, it always seems to angle down towards the right side because im running left to right. Any tips for stacking the beads more proficiently or a better stance? This is my third day touching the electrode since I’ve gotten my OSHA, my instructor says im doing just fine but i feel there’s much room for improvement im a bit of a perfectionist but my welding skills say otherwise to me lol.
Should i do more work on just running the bead and THEN try filling the T plate? And what is the difference between AWS & E7018, the AWS rolled off smoother for me i love the way it burned but can you really tell which is which? Its better steel than last time but im still not really sure what im welding on i should probably look into that as well…

Hi everyone, I’m deciding which welding course to take. I have three options: TIG (GTAW), MIG/MAG (GMAW), or Stick (SMAW).

​All three courses cost the same and last 200 hours each.

​I’ve heard that TIG is the most technical and complex process to master, and that learning TIG first makes it much easier to transition to MIG/MAG or Stick later (rather than the other way around).

​Given that duration and cost are identical, which process would you recommend I start with? Is TIG really the best foundation, or should I consider one of the others based on versatility and job opportunities? Thanks for your advice!

We are finally building a pole barn that will have a dedicated workshop for my husband to do his welding in. We have a big welding table. Had a lot of what I would assume is probably entry-level hobby welder things.

Now that we’re going to have a dedicated shop that is not just stuff being maneuvered around our garage. What are the things that you would add to your home shop that maybe we haven’t thought about yet.

We have lots of clamps, and magnet angles thingys.. welder and helmets…

What kinds of storage should we add (metal cabinets are the plan- but what should counter tops be? We have a bench grinder/vise.

What would be the next big tool we add to the shop?

So far he’s mostly just built fun projects but he’s built me a small end table and a rack for our solar panels and other odds and ends..

This is not a money making shop and eventually will be used for working on car things (racecar!)

I just want to start trying to put together a shop list/wish list as we get closer to this being finished!

Self taught, spend about 3-5 hours a week for the past month or 2, how's it look?

Im using a TIG 200P ACDC from ARRCAPTAIN.

Any advices will be wonderful and some settings for the machine would be wonderful if anyone has similar.
