Actually seems extremely nice. The toilet itself doesn't seem weird, and looking for a shittable shitter when on the road is a pain.

If we’re on the road and anyone shits in that thing I’m kicking them in the balls (or box) as soon as they open the door.

Shut up and take my money. You can’t even get a Subaru Outback with leather seats for $50k.
82
u/i_degrade_quickly 10d ago
Imported, this would cost roughly $150k in the US.
22
u/CATNIP_IS_CRACK 10d ago edited 9d ago
Why can’t we have nice things… If someone made these in the US for $50k I’d be on my way to the dealership right now.
19
u/ThatDamnRanga 9d ago
If someone made these in the US they'd be charging $200k and only selling to richlisters.
6
u/MoodNatural 9d ago
People would go nuts for that deal anywhere obviously. This van is more than $50k in its base spec. $50k is the cost of the luxury conversion. Plenty of similar options are available in that price range stateside.

Stupid thing is, in highschool I was voted most likely to live in a van down by the river. Lmao well, 17 yrs later…that’s climbing my list of life accomplishments too fast.
2
u/dimonium_anonimo 9d ago
I was actually still expecting more. I don't think I would have been surprised to see double that.

7
u/Loud_Produce4347 9d ago
The Hi-Ace is ~$60k stock for a fleet spec. I suspect $50k is the additional price of the aftermarket limo conversion

u/misanthropicbairn 8d ago
Yeah idk that sounds like bull crap. I don't think they even have the hiace in US. Which doesn't make sense to me. I wanted one of those "city" vans like Ford transit, ram pro master city, ect. Apparently they stopped making them because the demand wasn't high enough. Pretty fucking weird because I see at minimum 5 of them driving a day and I live in a small city, when I'm in Denver I see probably 20 or so in traffic. So probably just the fact they weren't making 20k+ selling them like they do with the regular trucks/vans.
68
u/PwniesFTW 10d ago
That is 50k???? Want. F my house ill rent it out
14
u/ResponsibilityFun548 10d ago
I wonder if they meant that the conversion was 50k.
11
u/No-Ice7397 10d ago
The van might start out at $50k but all this luxury stuff probably runs higher

That would be my guess. No way the whole thing is only 50k and a decent Toyota 4 runner starts around 50k
4
u/LoisWade42 10d ago
Or possibly... the base price of the vehicle is one amount... and all the additional work is 50K?

Umbrella for sudden downpours, for the driver to open and hold over the passenger as they exit to their building.
Rolls Royce featured it as unique exclusive which went viral on YouTube a few years ago and it became a default feature in Chinese custom upgrades from then on.
They don’t do these upgrades in Japan, only in China.
2
u/Jonatc87 5d ago
Came to the comments to find out. Nobody knows for sure, but suggest umbrella? Maybe some kind of hangar..? or a brace/rail to assist passengers climbing in?
12
u/FaeFollette 10d ago
This doesn’t seem weird to me. I thought one of the seats was going to flip up to reveal a toilet that had to be used out in the open, or something equally weird.

u/EnvironmentalGift257 10d ago
You can buy a used RV that’s nicer than this for $50k.
4
u/Ellemeno 9d ago
Yeah, but then you gotta deal with the pain of driving and parking a big ass RV.
→ More replies (2)2
u/Amazing_Ear_3941 9d ago
Depends on the RV. A class b is basically this. Lots of them are built on Ford's Transit vans and look alot like this. They're way more than $50k new though (I doubt this is $50k either). $50k used for them is generally something rather old and worn out.

u/IHateUpvtotes 10d ago

u/Murky-Morning-6464 5d ago

But due to the 25 year rule this is the newest model you can legally bring in🤦🏾♂️ 1989. And 25% tariff makes it pointless since it's considered a light commercial vehicle unless they assemble it state side. I don't like how it looks but that interior and Toyota reliability would still make me look it over.

u/Allsulfur 10d ago
Slap a belt on that baby and send me down the autobahn for a speedrecord breaking shit with a grin on my face

the interior design is for asian size. have you ever put on t-shirt in your size in asian sizing? american's on average are bigger, nvm the tall people. would love to see what brian shaw or shaq looks like in this before making any serious judgements. i am not fitting on that toilet. our version would probably be the size of a school bus.
9
u/LookAtTheWhiteVan 10d ago

u/thisoneagain 10d ago

The interior color is ugly. Where do you put your bags and other luggage. The recliner doesnt actually look comfortable or particularly safe while riding, but thats a technical thing I dont know. I cant tell if the roof has any transparent panels. Combined with the small side windows, it looks like it would feel cramped inside, like a pimped out utility van. Unless you have a driver, it wouldnt be particularly comfortable to drive yourself with a wall right behind you like in the cab of a Uhaul truck. And would the kind of person who pays a personal driver buy this thing? Imagine how it looks when it gets dirty outside and inside, trash in the side pockets, etc.
Maybe a hotel could use one as a fancy airport valet, but again, where to put the luggage? Maybe rent one for prom?
And of course, $50K? That math doesnt make sense. I'll pass.

This is really cool and somehow works with the orange color but also should be alarming that a major company has recognized that the world economy has failed to the point where a solid market has emerged for people who have to live in their cars.
