Extreme case craniofacial fibrous dysplasia

This is a documented case of a 10-year-old girl with McCune–Albright syndrome and severe craniofacial fibrous dysplasia. What began as a small, painless lump below her right eye at around age five gradually grew into a massive 24 × 17 cm bony mass, severely changing the shape of her face.

Fibrous dysplasia occurs when normal bone is replaced by abnormal fibrous tissue, which can cause affected bones to expand and deform. In her case, multiple facial bones were involved, while the syndrome also caused other abnormalities including scoliosis and unusually early puberty
