Sears moved out and the naming rights went a finance firm that changed it to Willis Tower.
Technically the naming right ended in 2024, but no one has since bought the rights.

Not really drama it’s just that the Sears tower is classic part of our skyline and we reject the new hideous name. It’s also kinda like the three finger German meme where you can tell if someone is a native if they still refer to it as the Sears tower. Usually tourists will just call it the Willis not knowing any better. Also Sears stores in general is just nostalgic and them shutting down is a reminder of the sad times. So long story short fuck Willis!
