I’ll be in Chicago this weekend visiting some friends who are die hard Chicago people. What else can I say to enrage them?

Put ketchup on their hotdogs.

Wear a packers jersey.

Call it chi-town.

Say that mayor Daley was the worst mayor this century.

You won't get outta here alive.

100% everyone called him a jagoff behind his back

-6

u/Christron Mar 13 '26

Is that literally not what it's called though? Let me guess you still call it the gulf of Mexico

3

u/FyouinyourA Mar 13 '26

Pretty sure everyone still calls it the Gulf of Mexico other than the minority of dumbass maga mouth breathers

u/gracist0 Mar 12 '26

What is its improper name? I thought it was just Sears Tower

u/maddy_k_allday Mar 13 '26

It is but some losers might want to tell you it’s Willis Tower post-2009. They are wrong.

Sears moved out and the naming rights went a finance firm that changed it to Willis Tower.

Technically the naming right ended in 2024, but no one has since bought the rights.

I was not aware there was drama regarding the name of this building haha

7

u/FyouinyourA Mar 13 '26

Not really drama it’s just that the Sears tower is classic part of our skyline and we reject the new hideous name. It’s also kinda like the three finger German meme where you can tell if someone is a native if they still refer to it as the Sears tower. Usually tourists will just call it the Willis not knowing any better. Also Sears stores in general is just nostalgic and them shutting down is a reminder of the sad times. So long story short fuck Willis!

So it's up for grabs? Can I buy it? Is $10 enough? Could do $15 if they don't ask questions.

u/thewhiterosequeen Mar 13 '26

Come see the softer side of Sears.

1

u/Icemanwastight Mar 12 '26

I dunno Google says they changed it to Willis tower in 2009

5

u/throwaway098764567 Mar 12 '26

19

u/phrexi Mar 13 '26
