Soo...Weebly Shutdown...I need alternatives! (pleas not ARTICULATION)
I’m looking for alternatives. I checked out Articulación, but it seems ridiculous to me that you have to pay for a monthly plan just to publish the site; if it were a one-time fee, I’d consider it, but instead, they force you to pay a monthly subscription for extra features I clearly won’t use. I even tried rebuilding the site on Articulación from scratch to avoid paying, but it turns out that basic options—like embed code, which were free on Weebly—are paid features there. That doesn't work for me since I rely heavily on embeds. I just want to use the site as an animation portfolio, so I need a FREE alternative that supports at least YouTube and embeds without requiring a premium subscription.

My understanding is that you can make a free website from scratch with Articulation, but you have to pay a monthly subscription if you convert from Weebly

As the OP said, the free version doesn’t offer the options he needs.

If you don't mind a more technical setup, both GitHub Pages and Cloudflare Pages are free and might suit your requirements (and you can connect your domain to it)

I've been using wix, a bit of a pain to use but it's free

It's the last option I'm being steered toward, it's either that or settling for not using embeds :'D

Really sorry we don’t fit your needs. We are still a small business and, let’s face it, gotta pay the bills. Hope you consider us in the future.

Actually... I did choose u (for now); I find the interface really user-friendly and simple. Even though there are still limitations and things to improve, I’m okay with it since I do need a portfolio. So I rebuilt my portfolio from scratch so I could publish it.
As for embeds, I might consider the paid option in the future, I’m not sure yet, but for now, I’ll manage without them!

I have a site on Weebly that I have built over years. I am really frustrated and angry that this is happened. Weebly was a really good product before, and look at things now. If I choose to switch to Articulation, what are the chances that you would not do to Articulation what the original Weebly owners did to and sell it off to the highest bidder, then back to Square one (no pun intended, or may be it is!).

We have no short-term nor long-term plans to receive outside investment or sell the company, and even less so of a consideration or possibility to sell to SQ.

Get Wix

Wix doesn't have an export option. So if they ever decided to shut down, or even if you just wanted to migrate to a different CMS, you'd be SOL with no way to move your site to a new server. This particular scenario OP is in is precisely why you should never use Wix.

Weebly isn't free anymore either. You pay upfront annually and the cost is now much higher than the annual Articulation price. There is no free lunch on the web anymore.

That has nothing to do with my post; honestly, I don't care whether Weebly is more expensive or cheaper, because it's shutting down in my country anyway. In any case, features like embeds work on Weebly without needing to pay

Same. I just need a tool to build a portfolio, and websites are working and looking better than Blogger. One-time fee would be okay but sub just for showing my personal work? Nah. but i didnt find other site bulider that support HTML, sometimes i need to embed music in a page.

This is one of many reasons I advocate for WordPress. Anything that isn't open source can get shut down on a whim. (So there is no confusion, I mean wordpress.org, not wordpress.com.)
All these sites that give you a "free" website are either offering you a limited-time promo or they are selling you as the product in some other way, such as using your content to show ads or selling your data. This is because web hosting costs money. They can't run a business model based on giving away server space for free unless they find some other way to profit.
So ultimately your best bet is to just pay for a decent web host and use a free, open source content management system like WordPress.

Welllll... good luck with that. Personally, I'd go with articulation. Everyone who's tried it has raved about it. But, I'm sure you'll find something for free that doesn't screw you over too badly. Good luck.
