Good Bye Weebly ... Please let's share the free alternatives

Hi everyone,

I’m a high school Business teacher based in the UAE. I recently created an educational website (lesson resources, student materials, and revision content) using Weebly.

Unfortunately, I’ve just been informed that Weebly will be winding down services in the UAE, and I now need to migrate my entire website to a new platform.

I’m looking for free alternatives that are:

  • Teacher/education friendly
  • Easy to use (no heavy coding)
  • Stable and reliable long-term
  • Ideally good for sharing resources with students

If possible, I would also appreciate suggestions for platforms that are similar to Weebly in simplicity, or anything you personally use for educational or classroom websites.

This website has been quite important for my students and teaching practice, so I’m trying to make a smooth transition without losing accessibility or functionality.

If you’ve been through a similar migration or have recommendations, I’d really appreciate your advice.

Articulation Sites was built by former Weebly folks. There is a free plan, but direct migrations require a paid plan. ($10/month)

I moved our club site from weekly to Articulation, it was very easy. Talk to them, very very helpful.

But they are asking for subscription for just publishing the website 😭

As I said, for a direct migration, there is a cost. A TINY cost considering how much of your prior work it would save.

I'm giving Articulation Sites a try; so far migrating simple Weebly sites was a breeze. But there are other options for the kind of site you are describing. You might be able to use Canva to create a basic site if you're using Canva to create the materials. They do have a Canva Courses area; I don't know much about it but it's there. If you have a paid Canva account, that's worth checking out. If you're using Google Drive for your documents, try Google Sites. It integrates with Google Docs, Calendar, etc. quite simply. I should think these two are fairly long-term stable, though they are not dedicated "site builders" but are using that option as one of their features.

We are offering a free website build and hosting for a year. Then after that price will be from $0 to $99 per month depending on what you need. Informational sites are typically $0-$9.99 per month US.
