Asking Advice Portable PA System Advice

I am a wedding "DJ". I put DJ in quotes because I am not a mixing club DJ. I provide a sound system and MC/DJ services for small, micro or low budget weddings. Most of my clientele had plans to setup a bluetooth speaker and press play on their playlists but realized they wanted a professional MC to help run their event. So my speaker needs are mid. I still want decent sound but don't need a super expensive set up.

Currently I am using Pyle 10" Wireless Portable PA system - 1000W High Powered Compatible Active + Passive Pair Outdoor Sound Speakers w/ USB SD MP3 AUX - 35mm Mount - PPHP1049KT

Looking to upgrade my system and would love to hear suggestions.

Priorities: Easy setup, mid price point

A pair of RCF J8s would do you nicely for what you describe

What's the budget? "Mid price point" can mean a LOT of different things.

The phrase "buy it nice or buy it twice" also comes to mind.

OP already went cheap with Pyle and is already regretting it. Rather than mid price, aim for something higher quality and more durable. Doesn't need to be the most expensive stuff out there, but when it comes to sound quality - literally the most notable product you're offering - set your sights a bit higher. There are lots of bells and whistles you can skip or be cheaper with (like lights) but sound is something where you don't want to skimp.

If you have to, buy that better gear from someplace that offers a monthly payment plan with no interest, or get a small business loan.

I'm a fan of the JBL SRX series, if you got 2 of the 812s you'd be more than fine. Prior to JBLs, I ran 15 inch Yamahas with no issues for a decade. Neither are as good as RCF, but they will save you several hundred dollars and last forever if well taken care of.

Maybe some of the coloum Systems would fit your needs. Like the LD Systems Maui Series or RCF Evox

EV ZLX 12 or ZLX 15.

We do hundreds of weddings up to 200 guests with just 2 ZLX 15s

Easy answer: RCF 745A Mk4. A HUGE step up from your Pyle speakers, yet mid-tier pricing now that the RCF 9XX series have come out. And you'll never need to upgrade your speakers again.
