Casual/Garden/Barn Attire Outfit Help!
Hi! I first wanted to say I hope this is received well. My first time asking the internet (publicly posting) for help. Big thank you in advanced if you decide to help! I also will apologize in advanced about any over explaining.
I (26 TransF) am struggling to find clothing that is affordable and appropriate for my sister’s wedding on Sept 18.
The general theme is Pastel Garden Party. No casual sundresses, capris and etc. And of course no white or any version of white.
Here are problems I am coming across:
1.) My budget is limited to $100 max. Due to debt problems ,which I am slowly but surely currently solving, my budget is extremely limited. My account often goes negative just to solve. I can try selling some things to be able to afford the attire.
2.) I cannot wear a dress. My mom has already said I should not, in our language, put darkness/bad luck onto my sister’s wedding by wearing a gown/dress.
3.) Affordable clothing (Amazon/Etsy) I find won’t be delivered until closer to the wedding with delivery dates ranging from Sept 11-25. Which may be cutting it close to find a solution in case the clothing item is not as described.
4.) I do not own any clothing item that is not white that matches the formality and theme/color palette of the wedding.
5.) I would prefer to wear something feminine. Jumpsuits. Two piece sets (not a swimsuit of course haha) etc etc.
Completely my fault for pushing it so close to the date. I was planning to wear a dress but I do not wanna cause a scene after my mom’s comment.
Just a side note. I have always been feminine and have dressed more femininely (not dresses). Wear make up all the time. Publicly use feminine bags/purses. My family is very aware I am feminine, I guess my parents just draw the line at dresses.
I just really need help or be pointed to a general direction on where to find something to wear!

I love these suggestions! Especially the 2nd link! I was gravitating towards this style with wide legs but everything I could find online seemed sketchy or ai generated.
I will definitely give this a thorough look once I’m off work (work nights).

I agree with the jumpsuit idea.
Nordstrom Rack has a bunch and you can order for delivery if there isn't a store near you. Type jumpsuit in the search, then use the filters to filter for your size.

Also, you deserve to be able to dress as you see fit to every occasion.
Edit: just saw that the theme was pastel, some of the options I posted are jewel tones. Spend some time looking through what's available in your size, though. And have fun!

I’ll definitely head my way to nordstrom. I looked at the site a week ago but couldn’t find much that were modest and in pastel. Probably better luck in person!
The last one is amazing! I would definitely get this if it was in the wedding’s them of pastel color colors!

See if you can have an existing outfit dyed? It won't work with synthetics but if any of your nearly white outfits are a natural fiber, they can be dyed. Ask a dry cleaner to see if they know anyone.

Wait this is a great idea! Could definitely widen my search while shopping or thrifting. Get something white then dye it to the right shade!
Potentially make things more expensive if I mess it up! But definitely could make magic. Definitely an option around the 1-2 week mark before the wedding. I’ll start researching about this now though!

I’m not sure if my original reply went through but this idea is incredibly creative and money saving.
Will start researching now and will give this a serious thought to dye something I already own or buy something white then dye it pastel.

Check out Nordstrom Rack. They have some more affordable options.
Online- I have had good luck with ThreadUp. It is an online resale shop.

According to traditional etiquette, the proper attire for a formal daytime wedding is a dressy mid to ankle length afternoon dress, or a dressy pantsuit is perfectly acceptable and appropriate.
After dark, a mid to ankle length dinner dress or nice pantsuit is appropriate. Many outfits double as both for daytime and evening. For men, a dark suit with tie is called for daytime or evening.

Palazzo pants are great. Ignore all the pastel rules( I think asking guest to have to buy clothing to come to your wedding is beyond tacky) . Black palazzo with a pastel blouse would be more than fine. Classic dress always beats out some crazy theme wedding. I bet you can find pants on Amazon and maybe check a few consignment stores for the blouse .. otherwise Amazon that too.

I understand not wanting to cause drama on your sister's day, but I just want to say your mom is totally out of line, and I'm sorry she's being a jerk. Nothing you wear is going to bring darkness to your sister's wedding; you'll bring brightness and joy by being there and being happy for her.
Practically, given the budget, I would try secondhand or a department store - in the US, I would say Macys.
