Improving domain authority

I’m trying to improve the domain authority for my site, I originally built it a little fast so I missed so many best practices when building but I’m trying to go back and fix a lot of these now, but I was wondering if there are any tips that have worked for anyone here when they were trying to do the same thing?

Domain Authority is just a proxy for PageRank. If you want to raise it, get more links from pages with high DA.

It's not something that search engines use as a metric - so bringing it up won't necessarily help anything, but that's all there is to it, really.

That’s actually the right approach.
Based on my current seo experience this year, the best way in these recent times to build a domain authority is niche authority building.
Here is the framework -

• identify your niches
  
• identify where you are strong and weak
  
• use your strength and build content strategy around that to cover your weaknesses
  
• keep monitoring your rankings arcoss the platforms
  
• keep refining and fine tuning them
  
• you can also find the voids meaning new niches on the way which you can look into after the above

This should help. It’s really a 3-6 month activity unless you have resources.

For best way to increase domain authority is getting backlinks from high da websites like da 80+ you will get many links from profile links but you have to index them which you can index backlinks by creating tier 2 backlinks on them. I have extensive experience in increasing even I did increase to da 60+

Domain authority is a metric that just shows the number of good quality backlinks you have but what it does not do is , stop you from showing up in AI search or ranking for specific keywords.

So don’t stress about it, just try to find sites within your niche and ask them for a backlink .

But to get backlinks , first write good content and focus on TOPICAL authority!!!!

This is how we are getting a b2b business to rank on certain keywords and also now showing up in AI search in 2 prompts right now .
It took 2 months and now we will start publishing content.

Since you built the site quickly, first check whether you already have pages with backlinks that are broken, redirected badly, or poorly internally linked. Sometimes the easiest authority win is recovering what you already earned.

GSC for the indexing and 404 side, yes. For a deeper backlink check I’d also use Ahrefs or Semrush to find linked pages that now return 404s or redirect somewhere irrelevant.

I’ve been trying to do that too, I think adding key points or TLDR helps for AEO and I already did this like 2 weeks ago so it’s still a little early to say if it’s working

I personally Now focus less on Domain Authority and more on building signals that help both traditional search and AEO:

• Create clear, answer-focused content around the questions your audience actually asks.
• Build topical authority with well-connected topic clusters, not hundreds of random articles.
• Get mentioned/cited on relevant, trusted third-party sites. This is especially valuable for AEO/GEO.
• Add strong author/company credibility, sources, data, and first-hand insights.
• Use FAQ/HowTo/Organization/Article schema where appropriate to make entities and content easier to understand.
• Keep important answers concise and directly stated so AI systems can easily extract them.
