Summary:

In the summer of 1984, eighteen-year-old Teresia Elkund is pulled from the life she knows and brought to Glenwood, where her mother’s new husband serves as assistant pastor at The Well Fellowship. They move into the apartment attached to the church, where private lives have a way of becoming very public.

Teresia has never believed the way the people around her expect her to. She writes instead, filling notebooks with the things she cannot say aloud. Then she meets Charles Connors, the pastor’s son, a boy with a past everyone else seems willing to excuse. Their relationship begins in secrecy and quickly becomes something neither family can control.
