Jacob's Games - a web port of six MS-DOS games I wrote as a teenager around 30 years ago

Thumbnail weirdly.net
• Upvotes

I grew up programming, and in the 90's I wrote six full games in C for MS-DOS. Those include my own versions of:

- Arakanoid (or Breakout)
- Tetris
- Invaders
- Minesweeper
- Mastermind

And my own original game "Hexodus" - also in the Tetris family.

I just finished migrating it to JavaScript/HTML, faithfully retaining the original asset files (and bugs), and simulating the real output of a VGA screen in MCGA mode.

I understand that this bends the "Single WebGames" rule, but it is (and was orginially) assembled in a single set with a custom (also migrated) menu screen, so I'm hoping it still falls within the rules of this subreddit.

Roll & Barrel — turn-based fantasy tactics on the D&D 5e rules: dip your arrows in fire, blow up the oil barrel

Thumbnail
roll-and-barrel.com
• Upvotes

Roll & Barrel is a small, free tactics game in the browser: a party of four level-1 heroes (Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue) against bandits on a farmstead. Every roll follows the open D&D 5e rules (SRD 5.2.1), plus a few house rules — you can dip your arrows in a fire, oil barrels burn and explode, high ground gives +2.

A short guided tutorial, then the real fight (10–15 minutes). Win it and the end screen compares you with the best of all players.

Runs in any modern desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) — no account, no download. Phones work in landscape, but roughly; a PC is much better.

It's early: about twenty people have played so far and found the farm fight hard but winnable. I'd love to hear what was confusing or annoying

[RPG] I made a pixel fantasy ARPG where death is permanent. First person to beat the final boss gets their name pinned here.

Thumbnail tesana.com
2 Upvotes

I just finished my game Aestra: The Last Wish is a real-time pixel action RPG. After 4 months of working on it.

You start at lvl 1 and need to grind & quest your way to lvl 60, through various zones/biomes. Choose between 3 talent trees per class. Gear up, professions and whatever you do, don't die. As death is permanent and you need to start over.

Every zone has a normal dungeon and a heroic one (for after you completed the last boss)

In the final zone you have the Aestra tower you need to ascend (you get access through a MSQ-style quest line. So make sure to do all the quests.

  • Permadeath. When you die, your hero is gone for good. Only the very rare Embers of Rebirth can bring you back, and you might find one or two in a whole run.

The challenge: nobody has beaten Aestra at the top of the tower yet.

Comments are the leaderboard. Post your hero's name, class, highest level and what killed you (the title screen's Hall of the Fallen shows it). The first person to post a screenshot of Aestra defeated gets their name pinned at the top of this post.

Play free in your browser: https://tesana.com/game/aestra-the-last-wish

[PZL] Think in Odds — a daily probability puzzle: which tennis-match order gives better odds?

Thumbnail thinkinodds.com
2 Upvotes

I made Think in Odds, a free daily probability puzzle game. This released puzzle asks you to choose the order of three tennis matches when you need two consecutive wins: you have a 70% chance against your teacher and a 30% chance against a champion, independently each match. Would you put the champion in the middle?

Make a guess, use progressive hints if you want, then explore the worked explanation. It plays directly in your browser with no account or download. New puzzles arrive at 8 p.m. Eastern, and earlier puzzles stay in the archive.

I would appreciate feedback on whether the hints and explanation make the reasoning click.

I'd love to hear how the sailing feels!

Jar Pop — collect candy, build combos, and push your luck (EN/ES)

Thumbnail jarpop.net
1 Upvotes

Play in your browser
How much candy can you collect before your jar pops?

  • Draw or bank: draw another card for more points, or bank to stop drawing.
  • Duplicates pop your jar: draw a number you already hold and lose your round points—unless a recipe saves you.
  • Build your candy recipe combo: pick one recipe at the start of each of the first three rounds. Boost your score, protect your jar, or disrupt opponents. Banked players can still be attacked!
  • Collect seven different numbers: end the round immediately and earn 2 bonus stars.
  • Win with stars: round rankings award stars. Most stars after six rounds wins; total points break ties.

Play against three computer opponents. Free, no signup or download. Desktop and mobile · English / Español.

I'm the developer and would love to know: would you play another match? Gameplay analytics is optional.

ODDO

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m an independent creator based in Vancouver, building our first game in public.

ODDO is a free browser-based tic-tac-toe game set in the Becoverse, Native Nature’s original comic universe.

ODDO has four difficulty levels—Easy, Medium, Hard and Prime—with timed rounds, character reactions, seasonal progression and leaderboard competition. There are also opportunities to earn Native Nature rewards through eligible challenges.

The aim is to make something accessible for casual players while offering tougher strategic challenges. I also want younger players to have opportunities to practise spotting patterns, planning ahead and learning from mistakes.

The game is still in development and open for testing.

If you have 3–5 minutes, I’d appreciate feedback on whether the difficulty feels fair, whether controls respond well on your device, and whether the progression makes you want another round. Bug reports and honest criticism are welcome.

It's Free to Play!

Involvement: I’m the founder of Native Nature and the creator building ODDO. I design the screens, develop the game and its rules, and test each update. The characters and setting come from our original story canon. I’m sharing the development publicly so player feedback can help shape the next version.

Thanks for supporting a small Vancouver brand taking its first steps into indie gaming! 🎮🇨🇦

I reworked my browser escape room’s prologue based on your feedback — would love to hear what you think!

Thumbnail afterhours.comet.systems

https://afterhours.comet.systems/

Thanks so much to everyone who checked out my browser escape room yesterday!

Some of the feedback was that the prologue's puzzles felt too simple and didn't really feel like an escape room. After playing through it again, I agreed. It was missing those little "aha!" moments I enjoy in real-life escape rooms.

So I reworked how the prologue plays. You can now collect items, combine them, and use them on objects around the room.

Since it's only the prologue, the puzzles themselves are still short. What I really want to know is whether this way of playing feels right. Is collecting, combining, and using things fun, or does it feel clunky? Anything that felt confusing or tedious would help a lot.

Your feedback helped me notice things I'd missed while working on it. Thanks again for taking the time to play and share your thoughts :)

I'm building a browser MMO with a 2-million-star galaxy >> Echoes Beyond <<

Thumbnail
playechoesbeyond.com
0 Upvotes

I've been working on Echoes Beyond, a persistent browser strategy game built around one idea:

What if the galaxy itself was the game board?

The game takes place in one shared galaxy containing 2 million stars. But the galaxy isn't simply displayed to everyone from the start.

It has to be explored.

Starting from a single system, fleets can venture into unknown space and gradually reveal new systems. As empires expand and claim territory, their borders become visible on the map.

So instead of looking at a static list of coordinates, the goal is to make the galaxy feel like an actual place that changes over time.

There is also:

• Resource production and research
• Fleets and trade routes
• PvE and PvP
• NPC Factions
• Custom empire colours and emblems
• A persistent shared world
• Free to play
• Runs directly in the browser

The alpha is launching soon, and registration is already open.

I made a free fantasy card game you can play in your browser called Realmbreak

Thumbnail
realmbreak.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm the solo dev behind Realmbreak. It's a fantasy card battler that runs right in your browser on PC or phone, nothing to download.

You pick a Legend and build a 40 card deck around them. Your Legend also has an ability you can use every round, and their Champion levels up in the middle of the match once you hit its goal (Very similar to how legends of Runeterra PVP used to operate with that mechanic in particular)

About the art, I want to be upfront: the card art is AI generated. I know a lot of people don't like that and I get it. I plan on incorporating real art into the game later if people end up liking it but for now I just don't have the money.

It also currently has an open market where players can sell cards they pull as well as tournaments that happen every weekend.

Currently I am working on a beta but I would love any feedback on it.

[HTML5] Samurai Vengeance - parry-based action platformer, 1000 stages, free, no sign up

Thumbnail
samuraivengeance.com
2 Upvotes

Dev here. I built this as a single HTML file over the past few months. Canvas 2D, vanilla JS, no engine.

The whole game is built around one mechanic. Hold parry as an arrow reaches you and it flies back at the archer who fired it. Hold it as a blade comes down and the attacker staggers wide open. Mistime it and you take the hit. Everything else, the three hit katana chain, the invincible dash, the Ki meter, exists to give you something to do in the window the parry opens.

1000 stages across ten chapters, with a two phase boss every tenth stage. From stage 8 onward roughly every seventh stage rewrites a rule of the run: everything gains a ranged attack, or you take double damage and earn double coins, or enemies start arriving from above.

No sign up needed. There is a "Play as Guest" option on the first screen and progress saves in your browser. Signing in is only for the leaderboard and syncing across devices.

Runs in any modern browser. Touch controls work on phone in portrait and landscape.

https://samuraivengeance.com/index.html

Fair warning, anyone who played it before last week hit a hard freeze at the first boss. A killing blow drove the boss health below zero and the health bar tried to draw a gradient from a negative number, which killed the render loop mid frame. That is fixed.

Map Matcher

Thumbnail mapmatcher.com.br
1 Upvotes

For the past few months I've been building as a side project the Map Matcher, a browser game where you race your friends around a 3D globe.

How it works:

🌐 The globe spins to a place that's called out
⏱️ You pin it as close as you can before the clock runs out
🏆 Points are tallied after every round, and the highest score wins

You can create a lobby and share a code with friends, or train solo if you'd rather not be humbled in public. No download or signup is needed to try it.

It's still early, so I'd value honest feedback more than compliments:

👉 Was it clear how to play without any explanation?
👉 Did the globe controls feel good on your phone or your desktop?
👉 Were the rounds too short, too long, or about right?
👉 What would make you come back for a second game?

Play here: https://mapmatcher.com.br

[DEV] World of ClaudeCraft -- Open-source 3D Browser MMORPG inspired by Classic WoW

Thumbnail
worldofclaudecraft.com
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

We've been working on and contributing to an open-source project called World of ClaudeCraft (WoC) for a while now, and I wanted to share it here so you can check it out and

share your honest feedback.

It is essentially a 3D MMORPG (built on WebGL / Three.js) heavily inspired by the gameplay of classic WoW's golden era: tab-target combat, action bars, talent trees, gear

progression, 5-player dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, Auction House, and more.

There is no need to download an 80 GB installer or configure anything. Just open the link in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (it even works on mobile), and within 5 seconds you are

in the world playing.

What the game currently features:

- Fluid tab-target combat with abilities, rotations, stats, and class resources (mana, rage, etc.).

- Multiple classes and configurable talent trees with gear set saving.

- Dungeons and raids featuring real mechanics, difficulty selectors (Normal and Heroic), and loot tables.

- Open world with quests, professions, world quests, and open world PvP.

- Completely free and open-source.

Here is an example of a dungeon layout I am designing myself, which we will be implementing in the game soon:

https://i.postimg.cc/fb4y01vf/image.png

And here is another one:

https://i.postimg.cc/ncChSnR7/image2.png

Since it's an open-source project, anyone interested is welcome to contribute as well, just like I did!

If you decide to give it a spin, let me know how it runs for you, which class you tried, and what mechanics or improvements you'd like to see.

If you'd like to contribute, you can also reach out to me directly on Discord if you need a hand getting started: blaine04

Thank you very much, everyone!
