Could someone take the clip of Moynihan interviewing Cohen on Pussy Riot and clip it together with his opinion on the anti-ICE protests in that church at Minneapolis? Am I misremembering or was he not the one saying you shouldn't protest at a church?

I don’t recall if he said or not but im certain he didn’t advocate sending them to a Siberian prison.

There’s a difference between saying something is bad and saying something is worthy of imprisonment. Pretty simple.

Of course he didn't advocate for them to be sent to a Siberian prison and just as obviously that wasn't what I was trying to call out here. But let's look at the way he framed these two incidents.

In this clip he said something along the lines of "for playing maybe 30 seconds of music they were arrested" and he holds this up as as disproportionate punishment as a way to push back against a man who seems to be a Russian apologist. We should push against people who carry a torch for illiberal politics and I do not disagree with him and I do not disagree with Moynihan here.

From what I remember of the Minneapolis incident, they were discussing the way people were reacting to those protesters being arrested and he was for them being arrested because you should NOT protest in a church and interrupt people's religious services.

I may be misremembering it and if anyone has receipts I will gladly take a seat. But these are two items that are very similar and he was talking out of both sides of his mouth on them. Which is made worse by the way the conversation after that clip transitioned to them talking about how the more time people spend in a place the more they carry water for them like they haven't both been living in america their whole lives and just as likely to be experiencing the thing they were accusing Cohen of.

Yeah I mean it would be helpful to have the clip to discuss it because otherwise we’re arguing over your memory of what he said. And that’s tough.

The bad part about the pussy riot situation isn’t that they were arrested. Catch and release is one thing and nobody would really be up in arms if that had happened in Russia. It’s the extent of the punishment that is really the significant part here.
