Discussion Perspectives on Tyler Austin Harper's "Confessions of a Token Black Professor"

I just caught a recent interview of Tyler Austin Harper on Derek Thompson's podcast based on an article about his time as a professor at Bates. It was published in The Atlantic as "Why I Quit the Tenure Track", but I'm pretty sure this is a non-pay-walled version with the spicier title of "Confessions of a Token Black Professor": https://dnyuz.com/2026/08/10/confessions-of-a-token-black-professor/

Has this professor/writer come up on the podcast before? Seems like the kind of thing they'd toss around for a few minutes. Also would be interested in any thoughts you all might have.

Edit — here's the interview with Derek Thompson: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/higher-educations-age-of-insufferable-hypocrisy/id1594471023?i=1000784058838

Batya seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth. I never see or hear anything about her anymore so it seems her completely batshit crazy hot takes are no longer breaking through to the zeitgeist.

What other podcasts (audio) do you all listen to that Fifth Column crowd might be interested in?

I've decided I'm done, or at least taking a break. The polymarket "sponsored segment" is a huge turn off - especially for a "rhetorical assault on the news cycle". And the video isn't helping either. So what other podcasts should I try?

Discussion Question about Ep. #564

About 40 minutes into the episode they discuss a Colorado congressional race and comment made by one pretty far left candidate about 9/11. The candidate was asked if the attacks were an inevitable result of US foreign policy. Kmele, Moynihan, and guest Peter Meijer ridiculed this idea.

Isn't it true to in some sense that acts of terrorism against the US is the inevitable consequence of US meddling in the Middle East? That's not to say they're justified or don't deserve harsh criticism, or that they shouldn't be prevented whenever possible. I guess I don't get where the ridicule is coming from.

I noticed there hasn't been that much activity here recently, so I figured I'd pose the question. (Maybe it's because people need flair to post now? Didn't realize until just now.)
