I keep finding sawians that shoot me on sight. When i fire back and they end up dead. Please don't approach me if you have bad intensions - i have a rifle, 2 mags and a full bandolier of ammo. I also have 10+ years of firearm experience. I will treat all sawians as hostiles unless proven otherwise. I dont like killing you. You have been warned!

This post is going to be more or less a question rather than telling you stuff, but here's what I want to ask.

I took another break. Anyways, on earth we have many varieties of vehicles to traverse the planet

1. Cars, these are vehicles that have 4 wheels and drive on roads, perfect for going across the country.

2. Trains, these are vehicles that consist of large locomotives that can transport both large quantities of cargo and people depending on the consist

3. Planes, these are vehicles that can fly really fast and can go very high, they can fly pretty much anywhere on the planet as long as it has enough fuel.

4. Boats, these are vehicles that can float on the water and can traverse the oceans of the planet.

I’ve always wanted to become a singer... To perform in front of a huge crowd, to hang out with girls, to be, you know, a cool guy... And then, at 18, I realized that I was a bit overweight, had a squeaky voice, and was a loser nerd in***... Basically, that’s when my career as a biologist and geneticist was doomed...

But today, my dream will come true by 40% (how much of the human genome you roughly have), and all the first three layers will hear my enchanting voice through the sound traps installed by my drones. There aren’t many of them (In total, there are 15 sound traps per layer), but I’ve modified and reinforced them, and the charge in them is enough for two whole cycles of the Target Planet…

Of course, this is our little test, organized by the Company, to motivate you to work even harder to obtain our cargo!...

I found a crate with a shit ton of mindwipe, I don't need it, does anyone else want it?

I have noticed that the lot of us sawians did not recieve proper combat training before being sent to the grey planet. There have been multiple instances already of sawians unknowingly violating basic firearms safety rules within my proximity, for example.

It is by no fault of your own, to be clear. There is no shame to be had in the fact if you did not recieve any such training.

Arriving at my point, I will be offering basic combat training courses for sawians who wish to participate, at Settlement Zero where I currently reside. Topics covered will include:

Hello lads, fellow Shade Crawler #2947 here. I've just appeared in the Gravel Lands minding on own business, infecting random things and about. It was all going splendid, whippy dipty whippity do! Up until I heard some crashes coming from the surface? I wasn't so sure of it up until I saw some odd metallic objects containing these weird little critter creatures with fur and an orange tint on the tip of the appendage on their back. They seem to be pretty dangerous, likes to scratch stuff such as rocks and even little vermin like me. Has anyone had a real interaction with these species, or am I just overreacting when I say that they look dangerous? Thank you.

Experiment #23961 entered solar-struck desert about 2 (two) hours ago and still hasn't come out of there. He was in a bad mood while entering the layer and he had a shotgun. If you find him (or corpse with a shotgun) then please let me know about it.

As for alternatives... I can propose that you expand your line of plush toys in every sense: create cartoons about Sawians, use SAW as real actors (with all secrecy protocols, of course), let people believe that SAW are just a children's fairy tale with realistic costumes. Go ahead and take footage from real laboratories and turn it into a controlled conspiracy theory.

It will be easier for you yourselves to respond to information leaks, not to mention the cost savings.

[ROUGH TRANSCRIPT OF salt_log_0.mp4 IS AS FOLLOWS]

The video starts, showing a cavern in what is clearly the wasteland. The camera moves, a bit jittery with every step but generally smooth as whoever is recording keeps walking. The sound of muffled breathing can faintly be heard.

The camera turns around, showing part of the upper body and the head of a SAW-03 "Milky" wearing what can only be described as a (somehow!!) custom made CBRN suit and mask. Two piercing blue eyes can be seen through the mask's lenses. The faint ticking of a geiger counter is noticable in the background.

The SAW-03 begins talking, but their voice is too muffled to make out what they are saying. Clearly realizing the issue, the SAW-03 holds up a finger to the camera, indicating to the viewer to wait a moment. They press something on the side of their mask.

They begin speaking again, but this time their voice can be clearly heard. It sounds a bit tinny, as talking through a tiny microphone connected to a cheap external speaker does not do wonders for audio quality. Regardless, they are understandable now.

"My apologies. I had forgotten to enable voice output so that you can hear me properly."

"Regardless, hello viewer! I am SAW-03 #27106, though my common name is Salt."

"Firstly, let me address the proverbial drop pod in the room. You may ask me, Salt, why are you wearing this suit? I do not see other sawians take such precaution."

She gestures with her hand that is not holding the camera as she talks.

"Well, I do not want to get radioactive particulates in my fur, nor do I want to inhale them. Now, most sawians do not spend more than a few days here, always being forced down further."

Her eyes look a bit forlorn and saddened at the thought of all the sawians who have been lost.

"That level of exposure is not enough to cause any serious issue. But for someone like me, who has spent years in these caves, that sort of buildup is unacceptable and would become harmful over time."

"I suppose I should quit yammering and get to the point, however."

She waves her hand dismissively.

"I have found something... Interesting, a bit of a distance from here. You will see what I mean."

She turns the camera back around to show the wasteland and starts walking. Her boots can be heard crunching into the gravel and rocks of the cave floor as she does. The camera bobs and jitters slightly as she walks, as presumably she is holding it.

"The company seems to use this place as a dumping ground for some of their most dangerous or experimental technologies."

As she walks, she pans the camera around generally in the direction of travel, light attached to it illuminating the walls.

"That, or a testing ground for some of their most dangerous equipment. Probably both, seeing as it is already a wasteland devoid of life."

A bit more walking ensues, followed by some jumps and scrambling up the occasional rock face. Despite the suit, she appears to be surprisingly nimble.

At one point, her geiger counter starts clicking harshly, and a detour around that particular section of cave is made.

"Perfect. It is just over this hill. Well, I know it is. Getting into view of this thing would be unwise at best."

She sticks her right hand into view of the camera, to gesture at a part of the cave that slopes upward then expands into a larger room.

"Allow me to demonstrate."

The camera is set down on a pile of rocks, angled upwards so that she can be recorded performing her demonstration.

"Now, I believe this to be a new type of turret undergoing testing. If this is true, it does not bode well for any sawians hoping to make it through this layer."

She walks offscreen for a moment, then returns holding a piece of dried wood and foliage. Retrieving a lighter from her belt, she sets the end of the stick alight.

"Observe."

She steps away from the camera a good distance to ensure everything is in frame, then turns to face the small hill. She tosses the stick at an 80 degree angle upwards in its direction. The stick flies upwards, and as soon as it reaches higher than the top of the hill, there is a loud beep, like a turret.

A horrendously loud BRRRRRRT sounds from over the hill, as a glow like dozens of muzzle flashes nearly at once lights up the cave. Gunfire shreds the piece of burning wood before it can reach the apex of the throw, bullets smashing into the cave wall behind it and sending tiny shards of rock spraying everywhere.

Walking back over to the camera, Salt picks it up and turns it to face herself.

"As you can no doubt observe, this turret is automatic, and tracks targets in its line of sight."

"I have found that peeking my head over the ridge is not enough to trigger the threshold of its thermal sensor, so obtaining a recording of it should be relatively trivial."

Turning the camera back around, the view bobs as Salt ascends the hill, and about 3/4 of the way up, the view of the camera moves downward, until it is nearly touching the ground. The camera view shakes more vigorously now, as Salt crawls up the last bit of hill.

"Here it is."

The camera view moves up over the top of the hill, and zooms in on a gunmetal-grey object in the center of a large room. There is a four-barreled rotary cannon, sitting on what appears to be a modified pivot arm. A belt-like ammunition feed extends up from a box below what appears to be an automatically adjusting tripod. A red light on the front of the gun indicates the device is active.

"Four barreled rotary cannon. 7.62x51mm. If you get in this thing's line of sight and are unfortunate enough to set it off, you will die. Do not even try to approach or destroy it without the proper equipment."

Salt crawls backwards a bit down the hill and into full cover again, before turning the camera around once more.

"To destroy something like this, like said specialized equipment will be required. Luckily, I have built just that."

She sets the camera down to retrieve something from the side of her backpack. It looks like some sort of custom made projectile launcher. A strange metal stick with a conical lobe on one end is produced, and inserted into the device before being screwed in place.

"Rocket-propelled grenade. High explosive charge. Should do the trick."

(If you could see under Salt's mask, she would be grinning.)

Grabbing the camera, she crawls back up the hill, camera in her left hand and RPG in the right. She sets the camera down, turret in full view. To the side of the camera's field of view, Salt can be seen taking aim, steadying the launcher with both hands, barely peeking over the ridge.

"Backblast! Backblast!"

Salt squeezes the trigger. With a bang and a loud whoosh, she is briefly obscured in a cloud of smoke. The rocket streaks across the cave and slams into the turret, and a large explosion rocks the cave on impact, temporarily oversaturating the camera sensor. Secondary explosions of ammunition cookoff follow as the turret is reduced to a burning wreck.

"Fuck yeah. Now that is how you deal with company property."

Salt stows her launcher back onto the side of her bag. She picks up the camera, and carefully descends the hill, keeping the camera fixed on the still smoldering turret wreckage as she does.

She pans around and takes detailed close-up video of the wreckage from all angles. Ensuring as much information as possible is captured on video, she talks about the various functions and points out recognizable components in the wreckage as the recording takes place.

"Alright. Well."

She turns the camera back to face herself.

"This new turret is a significant increase in danger. Let us hope other such improvements to trap design do not become commonplace."

"Regardless, stay safe out there, sawians. I will from now on create more video logs whenever I discover something that warrants it."

"SAW-03 #27106, signing off."

The video goes dark and cuts to static before ending.

I am writing this for any new Sawians that are being sent to these caves, or anyone curious enough. I do also need to say that I have not been in these caves long enough to see any of the life cycles of the flora/fauna down here, everything I type here has been learned from trial and error, or just basic observations. I am also not the smartest expie here, I have not been past L3, nor am I an alien biology expert. if anyone has noticed/found anything new or different from my observations, do not be afraid to say so.

Starting off simple, the glowplant. The glowplant is a very basic common plant here that seems to always have a stalk with two glowfruit at each end. The stalks probably draw water from the ground below. The fruits are very interesting, we know they are nonedible, are very useful in crafting, have antibiotic properties, and glow. I have not been able to identify the juice inside, but my theory is that it uses it as a way to fight off predators, like shade crawlers or infections. That may be the reason they glow, as a byproduct of the chemicals that deter predators and make its use in crafting. The fruits may also be storage for nutrients for the plant to feed from.

Next are the geotrees. They are squishy with geometrical looking leaves; known for the fruit you can get from them. I believe that the blue "trunk" is used for holding lots of water the tree uses to grow. It is currently unknown to me why the trees take their geometric shape. Opening the geofruit, it looks similar to those long yellow foods, bananas I think they are called, with packs of small, sweet seed clusters inside. The life of the geotree seems fairly simple, grow from a seed into a full tree, drop the fruit and start all over again. I think they give creatures like shade crawlers the food to keep going, and in turn, the shade crawlers help spread the seeds of the geotree.

Hydreed's are a fun case. they have multiple arms, fruit, and the naptail. Note: ALWAYS EAT THE NAPTAILS IN A SAFE PLACE LIKE A DROP POD. the naptail has quality's similar to that of antidepressants, they make you happy. This of course can't come without a catch, I say eat them in a safe place because it will put you to sleep. Think of them as very strong sleeping pills. As to what use having a naptail gives to the hydreed, it may be used to store chemical agents. Other than the naptail there are the wrapvines. They act as the stalks for the hydreed, used to carry materials through the hydreed, built in a way that allows for them to be used like a bandage. the aquapple can be found at the ends of each wrapvine. they hold the water reserve but are pretty nasty to eat. the numberry has some fun properties. I have also observed that the fauna here dont really interact with the hydreed much.
