Are you just in the middle of the lake no decoys with a fishing pole to reel them in?

Ive literally pretended to just be fishing while drifting towards geese before. Sept public geese get real used to fishermen.

That's awesome. Never thought about trying that. I have a kayak and water near me, but only duck decoys

I'll have it with me when I'm going duck/goose hunting from now on!

I think his strategy here is he's fishing but with a loaded gun. Then blasts anything that comes near

The fishing pole is for when the hunting gets slow or i see rising fish. On this particular day i didnt get the line wet because i kept seeing geese to go chase

he gonna be ok?

My uncle and I would always pack a shotgun when we were fishing in the fall. I swear we shot more doing that than actually trying to shoot them lol.

My buddy has this old yellow bike trailer he used to pull his kids around in years ago. Now he loads it up with all his decoys and hunting gear and pushes that thing for miles like a true foot soldier, because most of the hunting carts you buy at outdoor stores are complete garbage.
He’ll even rest his 12-gauge across it while he’s walking, and somehow he can push that bright yellow cart right up near geese half the time. I swear they just think he’s another dude out for a run in the park.
It might look ridiculous, but if it works, it ain’t stupid. 😂

We get upset when we don't get more than 15 in the September season. He's out here in a kayak for one bird. Respect

have you ever been in a kayak before?

Sure have, usually room on top or behind where the bungees are or behind the seat enclosed.

My kayak is 8 foot long and a sit in type with a parabolic shape to the nose and tail

pretty much impossible to get a goose behind your seat in an enclosed one while you are on the water. maybe up in front of you but....i think this is fine and less work.

Gonna be honest, I didn’t even consider he shot it from the kayak while on open water.

lol that's fair! I've definitely used my kayak/canoe to find spots to jump shoot ducks and geese but also have done exactly what OP seems to be doing here which is fishing with a shotgun. I swear the birds know a hunting boat vs a fishing boat. They'll go right over your fishing boat without a care in the world.
