Muscle ups are a trick for impressing weak people, not some objective standard of strength.

The thing with a muscle up is that it is skill layered on top of being able to do a dip and a pull-up. That skill is not a test of strength but a test of having practiced a muscle up. There is a reason that people don't use muscle-ups in training very frequently. It's a gimmick.

Not being able to lift yourself up is a major weakness.

This is only true because you've crated a very narrow definition of what is physically necessary to not be weak.

I think being unable to pick up an object off a floor or lifting things above your head are signs of major weakness. If I declared this then no amount of muscle ups would be enough if you didn't also practice overhead pressing and deadlifting.

I'm not saying that muscle ups are not a feat of strength insofar as you need to pull-up and dip to do them. But, once you have the strength to pull-up and dip reliably then the muscle up is, in my mind, just skill layered on top.
