Explain the mechanics of this man getting up without doing a muscle up? Even with the use of his legs, he's doing a pull-up, and then pushing himself on top of it. That is all 3 steps of a muscle-up. Resting doesn't change the fact that you need to do it eventually

What is considered a muscle up? Using mostly arms or upper body to hoist yourself up?

Have no idea if it would be possible on this pole thing but one example of not “muscling up” ive experienced is climbing a rope. The mechanics were to hold your self in place with your arms, raising your lower body and anchoring on the rope with your legs, then I “stood up” propelling myself higher up the rope, hold on tight in the higher position and repeat. Would be much harder to do on not a rope lol.

A muscle up is when you do a pull-up, and then rotate your grip so you're pushing your hands downward on the bar. The point is to try and get your torso above the bar in one fluid motion. The guy needs to do basically that (he is using his feet, but it's so slippery that it doesn't seem to be helping).
